Very warm and welcoming hosts, James and Kirsty. The room is very clean and cozy, with everything you might need. The food deserves special mention: the breakfasts are excellent, and in the evenings, they offer delicious dinners at a reasonable price.
There is a lounge area that is very cozy, and even a pool table is available.
We highly recommend this place for a stay! The hosts will also gladly tell you about the local attractions.

A much flatter landscape caithness Is much different to the west coast of the highlands but equally as enjoyable, Lybster Is a quiet village Itself but makes for a great place to move down the local harbours and there are cafes to be found nearby with the whaligoe steps nearby and the Grey cairns of camster amongst the historical areas worth visiting, but equally only a small journey to get to the bigger town of wick and Thurso with sea view areas and beaches at Keiss & Sinclair bay sands and old wick castle, and many other places of Interest, all within easy driving you can reach further lovely beaches on the north coast, ''John o'groats'' just a stopping point as there Is nothing to recommend It, Nearby ferries to the orkney's another great reason for staying around this area.

Lybster has an attractive harbour with a visitors centre which as unfortunately closed when we were there (Sunday). The grey cairns five minutes drive away were well worth visiting. The coast road is very attractive in both directions with lots of interesting short stops to chose from.

Take the walk down to the harbour.
Take the walk down to the harbour. It is very scenic and we were lucky enough to see dolphins offshore. There is also a short path uphill from near the harbour which gives views down to the harbour and along the coast.

It’s quite and can be used a base only. Nothing around. We went 20minutes back down the road to a Resturaunt called “the bay” it was lovely but you need to book ahead because it’s the only one for miles.

The area is very very rural.
The area is very very rural. Lybster does have one hotel where you can eat if required. The nearest town is Wick which is about 15 miles away. It has a Lidl and Tesco's. Truro is bigger (20 miles away) and has a better selection of eateries. You really do need to plan your meal times and where you will be throughout the day. It is 33 miles to go to John O'Groats which is the main attraction. Beautiful scenery and various hiking trails available. A ferry is also available to take you to Orkney Islands if required. Approx £90 for a car plus 2 pax ONE WAY.
