Beautifully decorated, easy to get to from the train station, staff were all really friendly, and the food in the restaurant on the ground floor was good. If I had one complaint it’s that in the bathroom there were signs saying that it wasn’t a wet room and to not get the floor wet, but both the shower and bath are not enclosed so water gets everywhere despite best efforts.

Overall it was adequate, rather than a Boutique experience.
The single use toiletries were basic.
The floor creaked and moved the furniture about when we walked across the room. The ceiling tiles were reminiscent of an office and the general feel, decor and furnishings were a miss mash of styles. The window frames were rotting in places and one leaked in rain.
The bed was comfortable and it was clean.
Dogs were to tolerated rather than welcomed
The evening menu was limited and over priced for what it was.
Apart from the evening table waiters and cleaners who were engaging, polite, professional and friendly. Staff were polite but perfunctory. Table service in the morning was reluctant and slow but the menu was fantastic.

Was nice but a strong off smell off fish when chef was cooking as far as I no when the fish is too fishy means it’s off!! But apart from that smell was fantastic

Macclesfield has a real personality, history and character.
Macclesfield has a real personality, history and character. One Sunday a month they have the Treacle Market, but it was cancelled due to Storm Bert. The silk museum was also closed, which was disappointing, so it could be worth another trip. We were only there overnight but felt a really pleasant vibe. It's set in a hilly landscape, and you are constantly reminded of this when looking around as you walk round town. Stunning.

We lived in Macclesfield over 18 years ago, and got married there, so this was a nostalgic trip. The town has become quite trendy in the intervening years with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. Good to see some of the old stalwarts such as the Waters Green Tavern are still there and refusing to become even the slightest bit trendy!

A good base to visit Peak District.
A good base to visit Peak District. Shopping centre in decline. Local bus services in decline but possible to reach Hayfield and Buxton. Plus very good train service to Manchester, London, Birmingham etc. Some good eateries - especially excellent Plums Kitchen.

I like Macclesfield because it is a pretty town with good links to Manchester if you need the big city, the Peak District if you like walking, and Buxton if you want a bit of culture. The town is of a manageable size with pretty parks, and it has various small events going on in the local pubs, plus each month there is the Treacle Market, which is a popular feature of Macclesfield.

I came for the silk museum and the Paradise Mill which I can recommend both. The Treacle Market on the last Sunday of the month was a good experience. The weather was sunny, but often was a chill strong wind, I missed a hat. It takes only 30 minutes to travel by train to Manchester, and about 2 hours to London. There are good restaurants and pubs! There are many places to take a nice walk in the nature of the surrounding area, but unfortunately I had to postpone them.

A nice small town centre, a good choice of eateries & cafes, A couple of good ladies boutiques along with a lovely shop Rocco selling stylish boots & trainers.
The Tytherington hotel is well worth a stay as they have a good Spa & pool. Another small hotel nearby is BoHotel & eatery, lovely. Free car parking available for the town centre too.

The room & shared bathroom was clean & comfortable, so it ticked those boxes. It was also located close to Macclesfield Town centre, so that was handy for dinner in the evening.
This stay represented good value for money, so would definitely use this accommodation again.
situated in the heart of the town, walking distance to everything. the bar in the hotel is very nice and does excellent well priced food. the rooms are well equipped. my regular go to when I’m in the area, would highly recommend
