Old Walker – 15 hotels and places to stay

MC Suites enjoys a location in Old Walker, 3.2 miles from Newcastle Train Station and 3.4 miles from The Sage.

Caleb is an excellent host, who made me feel very welcome and ensured I had everything I needed for my stay. My room was very comfortable, the facilities were great, and although the property has shared bathrooms there are several of them available so this was never an issue. If I return to the area I will definitely look to stay here again!

Located in Newcastle upon Tyne, 4.2 miles from Northumbria University, Great North Hotel has accommodations with a terrace, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar.

I was staying at the hotel due to an unfortunate situation, with plans changing daily—extending my stay, switching rooms—it was exhausting. Throughout it all, the staff was incredibly accommodating and supportive, especially the overnight team. I feel terrible for not remembering their names, but once they understood the reason behind my stay, they treated me like a member of their own family. They checked in on me regularly, asked about my well-being and how my family was holding up, and were always there to lend a listening ear—whether I needed to vent or cry, or offer a laugh when they knew I desperately needed a break from reality. Their kindness helped me through what felt like a living nightmare. I truly don’t know how I would’ve managed without them. Each "Make sure you're taking care of yourself too" as I returned to my room at night and every kind word of support not enough hours later, gave me the strength to face another day. They may not realize it, but their compassion made all the difference.

The location is ideally situated for exploring both the centre of Newcastle and also the North Tyneside coastline. There are good public transport links in both directions, including to the Roman antiquity site and museum at Segedunum, near Wallsend. To be fair, we only used the location as a base to explore from, but I suspect, like many of Newcastle's suburban quarters, Old Walker is no doubt chock-full of local history.

All needed facilities were available; Kitchen was well equipped - kettle, microwave, big fridge, washing machine etc. The living room was nice with a big TV (65" I think), internet was fine, lighting was good; the home was generally clean and everything was functional. Hahaha I mistakenly typed "home". It was actually worth a home. But One mattress wasn't comfy enough
