Check in was supposed to be from 2pm, yet our room wasn’t ready by 3pm.
Room wasn’t cleaned that well as dust was on the headboard, dressing table and window sill.
Most uncomfortable bed, I checked out at 1am and went to work early as it was so unbearable to sleep in.

It was quaint, charming. Just what I expected from a small hotel in a small town Scotland. We loved it! From the details of the china displayed all around, to the boxed breakfast in the fridge , right down to the coal burning fire place in the dinning room and the bar. The staff was exceptionally friendly all around. They even had the chef accommodating my gluten free needs so I could have Peterhead fish and chips! We visited family in the little bar/pub area, it was comfortable and enjoyable. It was walking distance from the bus station, which was really helpful. There was a brewery near by that had gluten free beer and wonderful people to meet. It was a nice older property but very clean and well kept. Would absolutely recommend it!

The ease of check in, room size, amenities and snacks were amazing. There were a ton of choices for breakfast in a lively little seaside town. A few neat attractions around as well!

Peterhead is definitely not on the tourist traill.
Peterhead is definitely not on the tourist traill. There were no restaurants nor shops of any quality that we could find. The only bright spot was the prison visit. The whole place looks to be in serious decline (with sincere apologies to those folk who live there and call it home).

Nice walks along the sea front.
Nice walks along the sea front. Ate out at the Albert Hotel one night and enjoyed our meal. Easy to find your way around the town. Lovely little villages on coast south of Peterhead. Peterhead Prison Museum excellent, well worth a visit. Enjoyed a visit to Slains Castle, very spooky!

Even though we usually stay for a purpose that will take most of our time, we always try to squeeze in a visit to Peterhead (and Fraserburgh is possible). There's always something going on and lots to do. People in this Buchan corner seem to appreciate visitors and make them welcome. If it's raining, Peterhead Prison Museum and Fraserburgh Lighthouse Museum are worth a visit. So many things to see and do, even just taking a walk around the towns. And there's a beach for everyone.

Lots to do.
Lots to do. We very much enjoyed the prison museum although it was very cold inside the prison. The super trawlers at Fraserburgh are worth a visit and it was good to see the seals at Newburgh and the kids loved playing in the sand dunes.
One evening we had dinner at the Seaview Hotel at Boddam which was excellent and would definitely recommend. We hadn't booked and felt lucky to get in (on a Monday in February) as it was very busy. The children's meals were beautifully presented.

It's a bigger town than we realised.
It's a bigger town than we realised. Decent options for things like fast food and supermarkets (retail park) for a town of this size t.b.f. not a great selection of restaurants we used KFC & Marston springs hotel there however there was an indians in town otherwise it was mostly cafes that were closed in the evenings and some restaurants closed all day on Monday/Tuesdays. There were plenty of pubs but Wetherspoons is easily the cheapest for food/drink if your not looking for entertainment or upmarket grub. The local golf course is fantastic particularly the middle and finishing stretch of holes. It's a bit of a trek from the car park to the clubhouse however. We found taking a few back roads out of Peterhead towards Aberdeen westwards was a good deal quieter than the main road, especially if there are roadworks due to the sheer volume of traffic using this road and especially in the evenings where people were returning from the aberdeen city area at tea time/drive time.

Lots of good places to see around the area.
Lots of good places to see around the area. The Prison is a must for a great experience. Lovely beaches in the area too. Seal Beach is a must but needs a small strenuous walk over sand dunes to get to it.

The Palace Hotel is in an excellent location in Peterhead town centre, well located for everything in the town and surrounding areas. The breakfast and meals are very good, served in a lovely large dining room. We liked that the TV screen is quite large compared to many hotels. Parking is free and was easily accessible quite close to the entrance.
A comfortable hotel in a good location. Definitely a car was needed, however, as there were no ‘attractions’ nearby. The room was a decent size with a good view. Breakfast was, with some reservation, very satisfactory.
Everything from location to cleanliness I'd highly recommend staying here there is fmgreat amenities close by and peterhead is a 5 minute drive to city centre
