Everything about the hotel was exceptional. The staff were so helpful and always engaged in conversation. We would certainly go back. The food certainly exceeded our expectations 😋

Offering a garden and garden view, Heatherbrae Cosy Wooden Pod is situated in Kyle of Lochalsh, 15 km from Eilean Donan Castle and 37 km from Museum of the Isles.

Fantastic base to explore the region. The pod was really cosy and equipped with everything we needed, and only a short walk into the village. Heather was a great host, we wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

The most uncomfortable beds any of us (group of 4 in 2 rooms) have ever experienced! They were squishy & lumpy, squeaking & wallowing whenever you moved, which was often when trying in vain to get comfortable! All the rooms at the front have a bright floodlight mounted directly above the window. We had one of these rooms and the inadequate curtains meant this outside light was streaming into the bedroom all night long. Also in this room, the only window (none in bathroom) was sealed shut so we had no ventilation (pretty sure this is illegal). There were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and the property looks generally uncared for outside - it no longer looks like their photo. We were booked for 2 nights but found somewhere else for the second night as couldn’t bear the thought of another night in the horrible house with no sleep. We never saw a member of staff & have received no response to our messages of complaint - 5 DAYS ago. All we have received is a discount code to book again, but we wouldn’t stay again if they paid us!

Plockton is a very small attractive sheltered spot, we visited it out of season, but the weather was really quite pleasant. Perhaps it wouldn't suit someone looking for a lively time but we enjoyed an evening in the bar listening to a local live band and enjoying local food and drink.

Plockton is a tiny fishing village near the Kyle of Lochalsh. It was made famous for its use in the 1973 cult horror classic The Wicker Man, where it doubled as Summerisle harbour, where the protagonist of the film played by Edward Woodard arrived in his aeroplane. It has hardly changed in 52 years which is the beauty of the place. It has a couple of really good restaurants and bars and it's the perfect location for a quiet getaway. It is well worth checking out Calum's Seal Tours where you are guaranteed to see some seals or your money back. On my visit we were very lucky to see a humpback whale nearby too! I highly recommend the Plockton Hotel which has a delicious menu of hot meals, and there is a good selection of real ales too. There is also The Plockton Inn and a fish and chip shop but it is closed at the end of the summer season. Also, a little place out of the way that sells takeaway food called Off The Croft Takeaway. If you are renting a property for your short stay, there is a small shop in the village, but otherwise a 7 mile drive to Kyle of Lochalsh is in order.

We went to Plockton in the year 2000 and really like it so we made a diversion of the NC500 to go back. But we had a problem finding places to eat all the hotels and resturants were fully booked. Luckily there was a fish and chip shop open, the next night we had dinner at lunch time so I sugrgest you pre book before you go

Small little and nice town but with nothing to do.

Small little and nice town but with nothing to do. It is remorse from everything, the closest gas station is 8 mile away, there are only two restaurants serving only dinner, nothing for lunch except fish&chips from a fish&chips bar, youbhave to book table god knows when before the dining time in order to get a table...The town has no food store, you can not buy a bottle of watter anywhere. BOTTOM LINE: STAY AWAY FROM THIS TOWN! (Please be advised: I traveled alone, had i've been with a family for sure we would remain without dinner)

Plockton is attractive and charming, but difficult to get in and out of due to the number of single-track roads. Its popularity is its downfall - it ends up becoming crowded and awkward to get around. In addition, there is very little to do here unless you're a boater. If you are looking for a genuine get-away, chances are you won't be getting away if you come here.

It’s a beautiful little place with two good pubs serving real ales and excellent food. Well worth spending a couple of nights. The surrounding area is very picturesque. We’ll placed for walkers. The weather is typically Scottish!
