The hotel was clean, the bed and pillows comfortable. The room was well equipped. Staff were friendly and helpful. The Indian restaurant was excellent. The shop next door had good breakfast items.

The room was amazing, however, there wasn't a lift, and as I have a very bad back, the receptionist took my bag to the room, but when I left, I struggled with the stairs. My room was the suite and was very comfortable, light, airy but the stairs leading to it are very, very steep and tiny steps

Steve the host gave a warm welcome, and happily allowed me to check in early. Nice room with ensuite. Excellent breakfast (extra charge) with dietary requirements happily catered for. A nice straightforward stay for a solo traveller. I also appreciated onsite parking (behind the property) with plenty of room.

The whole experience, the hosts were fabulous and couldn't do enough for us. Adrian knowledge of the local area was fascinating. Breakfast as expected was all lovely local produce. We absolutely loved everything about the super styled decor hotel to its era. The breakfast table was laid out with best crockery I've ever seen at any of our past stays. The best was so super comfy, had slept in a four poster when we got married but nothing like this one. Our room was totally fabulous, nothing corporate about this place which we loved.

It was only a flying visit for us but we could not fault the place. Heating was on. Beds were comfy and it was decorated to a very high standard. Everywhere was clean and it had everything you needed in the kitchen. Very very close to the town centre so we could grab some food. Easy to find and very quiet street.

Ponty has a charm about it and it is nice to see a high street with shops that are not all charity shops. The park is lovely, and a lot is going on nearly all the time. There's a market there on Thursdays, and although small, adds to the charm. Some really nice food places to eat catering for all tastes.

Good: friendly staff, freshly cooked breakfast on Monday
Good: friendly staff, freshly cooked breakfast on Monday
Poor: Lukewarm buffet breakfast at the weekend, with additional charge for decent coffee. Worn carpet on the stairs. Cracked tiles in ensuite, chipped bath, flooded floor after using the shower as shower screen did not fit against the wall. Despite putting out the sign for room to be cleaned at 09:30 on Sunday, the room hadn't been done by 3 pm when we returned to the hotel. Sunday is not a busy night.

What a historic place, the home town of Dr William Price, pioneer of cremation and one of the greatest Welshmen. The old bridge was the envy of the world when built. Lots of great cafes and pubs and the people are so friendly. Ynysangharad Park is the jewel in the crown. Clwb y Bont is great for live music and the Llanover Arms is full of history, and the local pub of Evan and James James, composers of Hen Wlad fy Nhadau.

Very comfortable room, not too small. Really good water pressure in the shower. Nice bathroom. All very clean.
Friendly and helpful receptionists.
We enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast. The coffee was pretty food for a machine (2 Italians in our group).

I liked everything about my stay in Pontypridd, both the town itself and the hotel. The hotel has a sister property, which is a bar and restaurant and this was excellent for food. The town has a wonderful park in its' centre, with a beautiful Lido.

Pontypridd surprised us, in a good way!
Pontypridd surprised us, in a good way! It had very vibrant indoor and outdoors markets which offered a huge variety of items. The meat stalls looked wonderful. The shopping centre was equally diverse with some 'chain' stores but many independent stores too. There were some lovely shops selling unusual baby clothes and a fantastic flower shop, Elyn Boutique Faux Wedding Flowers, which specialised in wedding arrangements and flowers which had the most amazing display outside. As we were staying there so we could attend a wedding celebration nearby we really did not see the shops in detail but were amazed at the diversity of shops.
The park was a beautiful place to spend some relaxing time and it was lovely to be able to look at the river and the birds on it from a number of bridges.
The one way system and roads that were only accessible at certain times was challenging, but we managed to get around at the times we needed to. Parking rules were unclear to us so we parked in a carpark that the hotel gave us a permit for.
The town was very clean apart from some areas in the evening, but the areas were cleaned up each morning. The town is vibrant and therefore noisy at night so a central hotel will come with the noise of music and loud shouting, laughter etc which might disturb some people.
We had a meal in Alfred's Bar and Grill and were very pleased with the excellent quality of service, ambience and food. It was nothing like we expected to find in the area. I would highly recommend eating there.
We would happily return to Pontypridd and spend more time there.

This was my 2nd stay at the hotel. I went down to Pontypridd to sit my Welsh exam. The room was extremely pleasant, with everything I needed, and extremely quiet. Excellent bed; I slept very well.
The breakfast, which I hadn't included in my booking, had a very wide choice of food and it was very fairly priced. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Comfortable and clean accommodation in a great location. Staff were pleasant and efficient. Restaurant very good. Great value for money if you want a good hotel to tour the area from.
Booked for men working in the area, they never advise what they like with a property only what they dont like and there were no complaints from the men staying.
