Loved it. Cabins a new addition to the range. Brand spanking new. Had absolutely everything you’d need for a short stay.

The Islay Frigate is a small accommodation above a bar and restaurant but you don't hear noise from patrons below. The room is old but well appointed. It has enough plugs to keep your toys powered up. The bathroom is small but has everything you need. The best thing about this hotel is how nice the staff is. We had paid for breakfast but needed to leave at 5:30am to catch a ferry. They made to go bags for us with pleasure. It was a good stay. If you have issue with climbing stairs you need to consider there will be stairs to climb.

The B & B was charming, as were our host and hostess. The room and bathroom were clean and fully stocked. The breakfast was delicious. Our hostess provided guidance for restaurants (not many options during this time of year).
A nice escape from everything. Peaceful and remote.
A nice escape from everything. Peaceful and remote. It was more modern than we expected + the spa was lovely (especially the outside). Not many facilities within the spa which makes the 90 min booking (per day) suit well.
All staff were lovely and relaxed looking which helped with the feel of the place.
The menu was quite broad so there is defos something for everyone.
We booked a classic lodge room which was cosy. We had a great night sleep.
Only L’s were that the bed appeared to be two small beds installed together and that the inside of the spa had a loudish buzzing sound.
P.S Make sure to double check that you drive the right way as we accidentally put in the ferry route. Luckily, when calling the staff, they were lovely and were able to change our spa and massage treatment times.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

Lovely stay for my husband’s 60th birthday.
Lovely stay for my husband’s 60th birthday. Everything went to plan and he loved his surprise visit to Portavadie. Many thanks to Izzy in the spa for a wonderful massage and to Tilly for looking after us in the restaurant and going above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful time. This is a beautiful place with amazing facilities. The infinity pool is the icing on the cake! We will return.

Spectacular views both day and nighttime.
Spectacular views both day and nighttime. The site has a good range of facilities but feels secluded and peaceful, ideal both for those wanting just to relax or those wanting an activity holiday. It’s a remote location but with a good range of walks, cycling routes and gardens close by. The ferry network means there’s ample chance to explore more than Cowal.

I love everything is provided in the apartment - towels linens toiletries even milk! Sauna in apartment was a real bonus especially as the main sauna at the spa was closed due to current restrictions. A beautiful place to relax and unwind.

Very comfortable hotel in a beautiful location! The room was amazing, with a large terrace and a stunning vue! The location just near the terminal ferry to cross the loch was perfect. The restaurant was very good, with an excellent service. We will certainly come back!
