This historic inn has been beautifully renovated and is in a quiet village perfect for chilling out. There was a lovely view from the bedroom. I would have awarded it a 10 but the bathroom was tiny!

Although on the A6, Shap is now relatively quiet due to the M6 by-passing it. This means it has more a country village feel about it and if the weather is good, sitting outside one of the local pubs sipping a pint is very pleasurable. Shap is a small village so nothing of interest but at the weekends you can see the steam train going through. Stayed here on a stop over heading North with our dog. Evening meal was delicious. Our room was in the Bath House which was perfect for dogs (little porch to sleep in if you don't want them in the bedroom). Our room was clean and comfortable, breakfast and dinner were great, and the staff were very helpful at the beginning, during and end of our stay.
