Staff were very helpful and happy.
Building work at the hotel which we were unaware of when booking was a bit disappointing but staff gave us a free drink at the bar. So not bad.

The staff was great, everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming, Bogdan especially was super helpful and gave us good tips about the area.
The food was delicious, everything cooked to perfection (just wish there was MORE of it in every portion!)
The room was large and comfortable, beautifully designed. Sure, I banged my head about 5 times on low hanging beams and door frames, but I had made my peace with it beforehand due to the architecture in the region, tall people are punished.
I only have MINOR things I didn't like, which in the grand scheme of things can be forgiven thanks to everything else being incredibly good.

Tried to rebook a table for our first night evening meal, to be told that the kitchen was closed due to oven malfunction. Reception staff offered recommendations for other restaurants- ideally I feel they should have offered a small refund for advertised services not being available. No offers were made. We booked a table for our 2nd night, and were told our table would be in the main restaurant. When we attended the restaurant,we found the doors locked! Once we located a staff member, we were told we would be eating in the bar area- another disappointment. Food was very mediocre- with several pieces of fat served in the salad. Spoke with staff, and asked for the chef to be told- response was”okay.” No apology. Chicken in the salad was dry and tough. Husbands fish and chips were only okay- disappointed that the chips were frozen. Breakfast was fair.
Overall, a disappointing experience for my husbands birthday. Would not return.

Breakfast was gorgeous great value for money and good quality. The location and parking facilities are both great. The staff were friendly welcoming and very helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable, we loved the quirkiness of the whole hotel as it is a very old building. Would recommend to stay here for quality and value for money.

Overall we very much enjoyed our stay. Stow on the Wold is a lovely town surrounded by beautiful countryside. We undertook a couple of lovely walks passing through the villages of Broadwell and Bourton-on-the-Water. Enjoyed two very tasty evening meals one in The Fox at Broadwell and the other in The Bell at Stow.

Lovely town with masses of independent shops, cafes, resturants and pubs. Very pretty area, lots of beautiful Cotswold stone cottages and buildings. Had a lovely evening meal at the Porch House hotel where the resturant was very busy however, the staff directed us to the bar where we were able to choose from the same resturant menu and the ambiance was great.
Would recomment a visit to "the Slaughter's" Upper and Lower villages nearby for a stroll by the little river and mill and take some refreshment at the local.

Beautiful little town in the heart of Cotswolds.
Beautiful little town in the heart of Cotswolds.
we were based there, and visited around.
Lots of shops, cafes, and restaurants.
Nice atmosphere to walk around. Don't miss the St. Edward’s Church, the must seen in town.
JRR Tolkien was a Professor of Old English at Merton College in Oxford and he was known to visit the Cotswolds and Stow in particular. Rumour has it that he was so taken with the door of the church that he used it in his book. Rumour or not, the door looks exactly the same used in the movie.
Don't miss a meal in The Porch House. Lovely atmosphere and delicious food.

Went to the Bell pub for food and had one of my worst ever dining experiences. Incredibly rude and uncooperative manager. Clearly prioritising some customers over others. Avoid the place at all costs!

We love Stow and have stayed here for the past four years. Lovely old buildings and layout. Great cafes and small shops and several really good places to eat out. We would particularly recommend the Stag, who has had the same chef for years and consistently produces great meals

Stow on the Wold is a beautiful market town in The Cotswolds. Full of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. We’ve been coming to Stow for years and we still love it just as much. It’s definitely a home from home for us.

The room was clean and cosy and the en suite was spacious. There was a coffee machine and fridge in the room which was a nice addition. Great location as it's in the centre of Stow on the Wold with lots of options for food and drinks on the doorstep. We ate at The Bell which was lovely, really great meal and lovely staff. We only stayed for one night as a stop over but wished we had stayed for longer!
If you are looking for lots of space, don't fancy going out but cooking in, clean welcoming and lots of treats, than that's the place for you. We love it every time and is the only place we use in Stow on the Wold.
The property was very clean and comfortable.
The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. The whole hotel was really beautiful and classic.
