I think the staff could be nicer and more thoughtful about the guests, specially if they are doing their check in. They can’t be paying attention to other random and less important question from other costumers, tell the other guest to wait in a kind manner. I felt bad when other costumer almost rest his arm on my shoulder to ask the front desk lady about the WiFi.

Lovely charming people, awesome food, stunning natural, Mayan, and colonial beauty. Much more temperate than I had expected - comfortable. No safety concerns at all (and I travelled exclusively by 'chicken' bus)

I absolutely loved Guatemala!
I absolutely loved Guatemala! So many people told me to be careful as they heard bad things about this country. The couldn't have been more wrong, the people are so genuine and kind, the food is delicious, the culture is awesome, and the weather couldn't be better! I loved Anitgua, Chichi market, and all of the villages on Lake Atitlan! Everyone knows someone who can give you a ride so finding transport is never hard, and the nature and hiking was amazing! Keep in mind, when I travel I love being out sunrise to sunset, so I was never out at night! I couldn't recommend visiting this country more!

Main objective was to get to Tikal and its mighty Mayan ruins all of which is totally amazing and totally worth the long bus rides to get there. But also, if on your route to Tikal you can just dip into adjacent Honduras to see the remains of Copan, with great free-standing and largely intact Stellae Scuptures which have long-since disappeared from Tikal. Also very beautiful and worth to visit is Lake Atitlan and surrounds and the lake area near Tikal with it's Caribbean flavour.Simply, go for it all.!

If you are looking for friendly place with great views and adventure then Guatemala is for you. We did a week with family here and loved it. Everyone was happy with the itinerary that my husband prepared. The only downside is that air transport from Toronto is not great. There are no direct flights and the flights leave or return at terrible hours so allow yourself some downtime before the trip and after the trip to rest up. We had great adventures from hiking the Pacaya volcano to doing a helicopter trip and trek to El Mirador. Guatemala offers so much beauty.
