Carrick – great hotels and places to stay

Located in Carrick and with Slieve League reachable within 2.9 miles, Carrick Gate has express check-in and check-out, non-smoking rooms, a garden, free WiFi throughout the property and a terrace.

Great location for exploring Slieve Leagues and surrounding villages. Super clean facilities, but would liked to have had a fan for noise and cooling as we found it quite warm inside.

Featuring a bar, John Eoinìn's Bar and accommodation is located in Glencolumbkille in the Donegal County region, a 7-minute walk from Glencolumbkille Beach and a few steps from Folk Village Museum.

The lady who let us in was very friendly and accommodating we were running late and she stayed open for us. The rooms were very clean, comfy and smartly decorated. I think they were brand new. Everything was easy and had a great shower and a nice bed...what more do you need?

Located on the beautiful Donegal coastline, Áras Ghleann Cholm Cille is just a 10-minute drive from the highest sea cliffs in Europe.

Aras Ghleann Cholm Cille is a great host to stay in Co. Donegal. You can feel the magic of IRELAND 🇮🇪 when exploring Wild Atlantic Way. Leon and Gillian will make everything for you to feel like staying at home. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. You also have a private shower in the room with fresh towels. There was good Continental Breakfast with fresh coffee in the morning for the good start of the day. The place is located in Malin More, which makes it a perfect base for exploring: - Silver Strand, 7 min drive - Glencolmcille Folk Village, 5 min drive - John Eoinín's Pub, 6 min drive - The Rusty Mackerel Pub, 15 min drive ( Saturday place was busy because live music) -Sliabh Liag Car Park and Cliffs view point 18 min drive( great trails for walking, running, and hikes) - Sliabh Liag Boat Trips, 18 min drive

Ocean Spray Self Catering apartment is located in Kilcar, just a 5-minute walk from Muckros Bay Beach and 8.2 miles from Slieve League.

It was self-catering and perfectly equipped. Beautiful ocean view from the living-room with an outdoor patio area. Both bedrooms were en-suite and the beds were very comfortable. I would definitely return to explore more of the south west of Donegal.

Under the Eaves is located in Kilcar, just 5.1 miles from Slieve League and 8.2 miles from Folk Village Museum. This beachfront property offers access to free Wifi and free private parking.

I travel a lot and this was the best place I've stayed at for awhile. The room was cozy and well equipped. The host was unbelievably helpful and went way out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. The view was gorgeous and there's a short walk to a lovely beach.

Its a small town but it has a shop at the filling station selling grocereis etc. The location is good to get to the coast and the mountains. A car is useful but I did see quite a fe w locals buses, one of which stops right outside the pub. There is a chinese takeaway but its not great,

Carrick is a very rural area but absolutely beautiful in nature, probably the most gorgeous part of the world I’ve ever been to. Hiking around Carrick was such a good experience. In terms of food, I went to the local Chinese takeaway which was decent (can’t really expect that much from a takeaway tbf). I would recommend either having your own transport or being very prepared to walk.

Wonderful traditional music available on a few nights in the week. A traditional singing session in pub with turf fire was a highlight too. You can also source meals that are generous and tasty in local hostelries.
