Elphin – 1 hotel or place to stay

Offering a garden and garden view, The Townhouse is situated in Elphin, 13 km from Clonalis House and 14 km from Leitrim Design House.

Was greeted at the front door with a big friendly smile by the host, an absolute lady, she couldn't have been more helpful. Room and facilities were top class. Breakfast was delicious. Couldn't have asked for more. I'd highly recommend

Couldn't fault the copper still. Room was very clean comfortable and nicely designed. Ower was extremely helpful and staff where exceptional. Food was very tasty and a great atmosphere in the bar. Live music was an added bonas. There is a small kitchen with continental breakfast available which was a nice touch.

Situated in Boyle and only 8 km from Carrick-on-Shannon Golf Club, Rosdarrig Bed & Breakfast features accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking.

Brenda and Fiona were so lovely, great craic during breakfast, and so helpful with advice for pubs, restaurants, and sites to visit. The house and the room were fab with a lovely view, plenty of space, and very clean. Breakfast was great, and there were amenities to make tea in the room. The B&B is in a great location, walking distance to the town and the tourist sites in Boyle, and very close to Carrick on Shannon, eagles flying, Lough Key and other attractions. We can't wait to come back for our next visit to Boyle!

Currently there is no restaurant but there are a couple of takeaways and several little Pubs for unwinding at the end of a long day. The ancient Cathedral of Elphin (in ruins) makes for an interesting delve into some long distant history . This is at the end of the main street.. Elphin is well located to visit Strokestown Park House, a 300 hundred year old Palladian Mansion which houses the Famine Museum and an amazing Walled Garden

I liked the scenery, open countryside feel to the area and the peacefulness. The fact that my late mother and her siblings grew up here and my grandparent's and cousin are buried here, brought me closer to them and a sense of peace and closure; as I'd not been back here to visit since I was very young. As I was on public transport I was limited to the places I could travel to but the local bus was useful for my time there. Had I wanted to go further taxis were available and Roscommon station not too far away. I loved the variety of quaint local pubs in the area and had chance to see my cousin I'd not seen in 40 years! I'm not sure about restaurants as I'd ordered take-away pizza in the village, so I can't comment. My visit was completed by a walk to the local windmill and a visit by my auntie, which was amazing! I had a lovely relaxing break and would love to return one day.

I gave a 6 out of 10, but on reflection I think that was unfair, a score of 9 would be more appropriate. It was a lovely place to stay, just wish the bed was more comfy and the springs greased ... that's a joke by the way. I didn't know the hosts name, but she is so helpful. I loved the type of tea she uses and often had 2 tea pots. I never had dinner, didn't need it, breakfast very filling indeed and what a breakfast. If I stayed again, it would be an en-suite. They have a small lounge area and it is comfortable, warm and cosy. Always have milk in the landing area fridge upstairs and bottled water. It's good value for money without a doubt and you won't get cheaper. It does have a few take aways in the village and she will set you a table in the breakfast area, no eating take away in your room, that's a no no. If your glutton free, no problem here, she will cater for anyone, even veggy, vegan, you name it, she will do it for you. Indian take away in village and 5 pubs. ENJOY YOUR STAY. 9/10

Elphin im sad to say is not somewhere i would recommend to anyone. As stated nice owner but total disater. Left 3 days early owner offered a bit of refund but just wanted to leave it. Forget the whole awful experience. Also beware of the 30 euro charge for heating and electric. Complete joke to ask for it. Please think twice before you book here. Hospitality has been closed for months on end and in that time this property should have been urgently sorted. No excuse for not doing something with it. We have stayed in countless self catering propertys and have never until now encountered one so very bad. I also blame booking .com and the other agents for allowing this property to be let out to the general public. Not good enough. Never ever again will we be back. Also we will be reading furture reviews from other people when they come here.
