Amritsar sucks.
Amritsar sucks. The place is full of rowdy and ill mannered folks, except a few noteworthy places to see, it is not worth to go to Amritsar. The food is full of oil and unhealthy carbs, public transport is non-existent and absolutely not safe for women and kids. The essential sights of the Golden Temple, the 1919 Memorial and the Partition Museum are all centrally located and walkable one to the other. The daily Border crossing ceremony is a 30km taxi or bus trip and is well worth a visit. Other sights are located a short Tuk Tuk ride or a 30 -40 minute walk away from the centre.
