A city truly deserving of the epithet TEMPLE CITY, Kumbakonam and its surrounding areas are truly replete with temples. There isn't going to be ever enough time to visit all of them, so being prepared with a list to visit would be helpful. The city reeks of poor maintenance. The city sidewalks are strewn with garbage, and unclean roads add up to the mess. Words cannot do justice to the incredible experiences this city has to offer. Everywhere you go, you will be surrounded by Indian spirituality - from the massive temples to the water bodies and greenery, Kumbakonam offers a truly unique and delightful experience for those seeking it. Kumbakonam is also known as the karmabhoomi of Raghavendra Swami and other saints, and is home to many Muths belonging to different faiths. The area is full of temples built decades/centuries before. Had chance to visit and pray in Navagraha Temples. There are number of small and medium size veg restaurants in and around. Food is of good quality and reasonably priced. Most of the hotels don't have attached restaurants. Hiring a taxi is the comfortable way of reaching out to temples within stipulated time.
