Historic, quaint, great staff, authentic original rooms, its real and way better than 5 star - its an experience like no other. You'll get mud on your shorts and bats flying by inside, (not your room) great pool, lovely gardens. River cruise for sunrise just amazing. A huge amount of history right there.

The location is good and close to the Narmada ghat. The staff arranged an auto guy as the lanes are too small for 2 cars to go

We had a very plesent stay with family here. The location made it possible for us to visit Narmada ghat multiple times including attend Narmada aarti as well as very early morning blissful experiences at Narmada ghats. Our family could spend more time at Ghats and had immersive experience due to hotel's proximity to Narmada Ghat. Thanks...

With just INR 200 extra you could upgrade to use the a/c. The room was very basic but clean sheets.
Hit water was working very well.
Friendly stuff, free soap, toilet paper and daily water bottle.
To reach the fort and river they assist you with a rickshaw. They also booked us a taxi back to Indore.

Trip to Devi Ahilyabhai palace was great. There is so little that we learn in school of such great Indian rulers. Trip to Shasrdhara on the Narmada was a great trip. Take a guide at the palace so that you can ensure that all the key places are visited and you get a good account of the history. ( Guide is around Rs 550 for a full visit).

Excellent location with historical and religious...
Excellent location with historical and religious significance. Maheshwar used to be the Capital during reign of Ahilyabai Holkar. The town is on the banks of Narmada river, on the ghats of which, one can spend endless hours.
Maheshwari sarees are a must-buy.
The place is clearly the inspiration for movie Baahubali. The ancient name for this town was Mahishmati, which was used in the movie as-is. The grand temple structures in the town were visible in the movie too.
