The owner and staff are incredibly kind, always smiling, and ready to help. The rooms are comfortable, equipped with wardrobe table and chairs and each has a balcony, which is a plus. One of the things that stood out the most was the cleanliness—everything is spotless! The rooms are cleaned regularly, the sheets and towels are fresh, and the common areas are impeccably maintained. You can really tell that they put a lot of care into keeping the place in good condition. The hotel also provides a shared kitchen, 2 washing machines, and a rooftop area with space to dry clothes. This makes it especially convenient for longer stays.

    Our stay fell short of expectations due to recurring issues. Electrical interruptions occurred intermittently during mornings, disrupting rest. Bathroom facilities were cramped and outdated, requiring modernization of fixtures like toilet bowls. Housekeeping inconsistencies led to uncleaned rooms on multiple evenings, necessitating repeated requests for service. Complimentary water was unavailable, forcing us to source mineral water externally. Bedding maintenance lacked attention, with unchanged bedlinen observed. While staff provided bottled water upon request, these unresolved issues make it difficult to recommend this hotel.

    Mysore is a beautiful town in Karnataka and is one of the cleaner cities in India (probably the cleanest). There are many attractions for visitors, the Mysore Place, Jagan Mohan Place Art Gallery, the Zoo, Srirangapatna (only 9 miles from Mysore), where Tippu Sultan reigned, RanganaThittu Bird Sactuary, Brindavan Gardens, Chamundeswari temple on top of Chamundi Hills, Lalit Mahal Place, which is now a hotel, great shopping and restaurants, and great people, friendly and helpful. I highly recommend a visit to Mysore for all.

    Mysore Palace was well worth the visit. Phenomenal decor. It depicted life limited to a select few. We visited the zoo that was better than I expected. The grounds were stunning in their own right with huge tree lined walkways. The variety of animals was also unexpected. Visiting the sand museum was well worth seeing a new form of art that was awesome. Visiting the Hindu Temple on Chamundi Hill was a real buzz. It was Sunday and packed with families. It was so busy the que was too long for us to go inside. Observing the attendees in their devoutness and their interactions with each other was a pleasure to observe.

If you visit Srirangapatna, be aware that entrance tickets to the Summer Palace (Daria Daulat Bagh) cannot be bought for cash: you need to pay online.     Nice city with less traffic and lesser population. Lot of places to visit Like Palace, Brindavan garden, Sukhavana, Bonsai garden, Chamundeshwari temple, Srirangapatna and many more. Good place to relax for a couple of days.

    Mysore is a clean city and a decent place t visit for a long weekend. There are quite a few historical monuments in the city and Srirangapatnam, which is about 15-20 kms from the city. Public transport and Ola/Uber make the commute between monuments easy and convenient.

    Southern Star is one of the best hotels in Mysore. I stayed here in the month of September & this is my second visit. The rooms have been renovated, they are spick and span, beds have been replaced & they are super comfy. I had booked two rooms & misplaced my gold chain in one of the rooms. I thank Mr.Raj, Praveen & all the other staff members for their cooperation. Chandana, who works in the restaurant is so courteous & helpful. One of the sweetest lady I have ever met!

    One of my favourite places we’ve stay in India so far. Our room was very clean and so were communal areas. Bedding felt really fresh and clean. I was able to get all my washing done here too. Staff are friendly. The building is beautiful and set back from a quiet road, so the whole place feels very peaceful. Just a short walk from good places to eat and a quick tuktuk ride to Mysore palace and other places worth visiting. Highly recommend this place!
