Srinagar is a fantastic city for tourists.
Srinagar is a fantastic city for tourists. The city is still under CRPF's control with J&K Police coordinating their bit, it is totally SAFE for the tourists. Dal lake with the high mountains as the backdrop enhances one's visual experience to a new level. The Shikara Boat ride was fantastic, and we enjoyed to a great extent. At first I was hesitate to travel to Kashmir.
At first I was hesitate to travel to Kashmir. However, I made the decision to book this trip with Hotel Lavender . The management of hotel did an excellent job of assuring everyone on the trip felt safe the entire time. With accommodation, transportation, horse back riding, food in Pahalgam the trip was truly an enjoyable experience. I would have never been able to organize a trip like this on my own. So the price was very reasonable with this in mind. Travel Srinagar is truly a professional company that has experience and knowledge of this region. The area is so beautiful it is literally a can't miss if you are traveling in the North of India. Srinagar is a great city. Dal lake is it's prime spot. Shikara ride is the most impressive - we went on a Shikara ride both in the evening (sun down) and in the afternoon (sunny) and the lake offered great scenery both the times. there were vendors with floating markets in the middle of the lake - was a very cool offering. Botanical gardens and flora in general are very impressive. Pahalgam was dusty and an uphill task to ride till the Swiz garden but an adventurous experience. Shankaracharaya temple on the hilltop is a very positive place and offered great aerial view of the valley. October temperature was great, not too hot not too cold. The old city was interesting especially around the Jama Masjid. Dal lake tours offered open water with mountain views and smaller canals to explore, and early morning veg market for those who don't mind a 4 a.m. start. Wonderful crafts and food. I liked nature.
I liked nature. But truly saying the People of Srinagar are very very very bad. They have just 1 thing in their mind that Kashmir hamara hai. Yahan bas ghoomne aao aur bhaago yahan se. Every time every person is asking for BAKSHISH like Beggars. Nature have given them a lot and they are eating of it. They dont know how to speak with love to customers. Charge extra for everything. Food is good but not excellent, great is the taste of the Chinese cuisine restaurant they have. A con which I would write is the service they provided with the room cleaning was they didn't change the towels and what was done was folding the used towels in a nice way and keeping it the way it should be.
