The stay was cozy and comfortable. The place was calm, and the view of the mountains through the window is definitely worth mentioning—it added to the overall relaxing experience.

Easy self check-in. Small but comfortable rooms. Very clean. Warm water is (as communicated) restricted as it is heated by a boiler system. However: while the little houses look beautiful on pictures, they don’t quite do the impression justice. The big windows and view open out to the road and walkway between the separate huts, so people walk by the bedroom frequently. If you value privacy, you will be prompted to close the curtains as soon as it gets darker. We were lucky to have one of the last houses in the row, so we did not have another house right in front of us. Most of the other huts are not as lucky. There is no view of the mountain from inside the rooms.
Also, be aware while there is a small refrigerator, a water kettle and a microwave, there is no silverware or dishes provided. The whole setup is very simple.
However, the location in Arnastapi is beautiful. There are several gorgeous sights to see in the area. So if you are looking for a place to sleep for day activities, this place is nice. We just imagined it a little differently than it actually was.

Based on the location, the facilities and the view giving this property a 10/10 would really be understating it. I would give a 12/10 if I could. The pictures shared by the host don't do justice to the property and location at all.

I was climbing the glacier Snæfellsjökull with a group of people from FÍ (Ferðafélag Íslands). Arnarstapavegur is an excellent place to use as base for that activity as well as exploring the Snæfellsjökull National Park.

The breakfast was excellent and the staff was helpful. Very nice restaurant there on premise. Room was sparse and simple but super clean and new and the bed was fabulous! Super comfy. Great location. Easy to get to and nice things to see there. Perfect for a one night stay but not for longer.

We drove the Snaefellsjokull Park and peninsula.
We drove the Snaefellsjokull Park and peninsula. Fascinating. From the small churches. The wild ocean and black sand beaches. The bird cliffs. Waterfalls. Lava fields and the glacier from many viewpoints. We had a wonderful lunch at Gilhakki Kaffihus in Hellissander. A charming little coffee house. You can do the loop in one day. There’s so much to do and see that two days would be even better. I would find a day trip from Reykjavik too rushed. Glad we stayed in Arnarstapi and drove through to Stykkisholmur

I liked the place, the cottage was very nice and comfortable, walked from Arnarstapi to Hellnar (2,5 km). A beautiful walk along the see. Had lunch at Fjöruhusið, had delicious fish-soup, waffles and coffee. A must to experience, very original.
Arnarstapi has two restaurants that were open July 2020. Both decent, one is part of the hotel and more upscale. There is no shop in the area, so you have to take all necessities with you, even matches and tampons were not to be found! Lot's of beautiful sights around the area and the glacier is very close. We visited Lýsuhóll natural pool, really nice although quite primitive. Overall a very nice experience and the nature sights are breathtaking.
