all the basic facilities, grocery store, nice french fusion restaurant in one of the hotels in town. starting point to major outdoor points (e.g. Snaefellsness national park, points north and inland). A good base for multiple day trips north and inland. Close to Glymur , highest waterfall in iceland (summer only, no river crossing in winter!)

The city is the historical center of some of the early settlers so it was interesting to explore. It has a number of good restaurants and plenty of other amenities like gas stations. It's a beautiful setting just across the fiord from the southern part of Iceland.

A good place to stay- friendly, clean, quiet, etc. The jacuzzi and sauna were a nice touch and enjoyed after a day of trekking and driving. Borgarnes is nearby for food and such. The Conti breakfast was great - lots of healthy and tasty choices, and the coffee was good. All in all, thumbs up!

The guesthouse is a hidden gem along the coast in a very pleasant little town. From here you can walk along the seaside to enjoy the midnightsun when the sky is blue. The adjacent restaurant has a very friendly and welcoming staff and a range of excellent food as well as an enjoyable seafood buffet with several choices of fresh fish. And don't forget to try their lamb !

Busy little town, with various amenities. Has several museums in the area. A coastal path runs round the west side of the town giving good views of the area. There a number of food outlets along with a Netto supermarket. For refuelling purposes, there a three separate garages for fuel, next to route 1.

The local pool was lovely - we went in the evening, so it was dark (I really like this). There was a local cafe/bar that served some great value meals - the lamb chops were sublime. There is a lovely friendly vibe in Borganes, and I would highly recommend putting it on your trip.

This hotel felt really expensive for what we got. The rooms are dated and the insulation was terrible. We couldn’t fall asleep because we could hear the neighbours chatting in the evening. The bathroom door wouldn’t shut easily and squeaked loudly when it did. The towels and pillow cases had some stains, and the bed sheets were ripped. This felt much more like staying at an aunt’s house than a hotel, and lacked that air of professionalism I’d grown to expect from this price bracket. Not sure I’d book again or recommend it.

Very classy hotel. Minimalistic and stylish interior, very clean rooms and bathroom, comfy beds, everything was new or restored to its original state (like the beautiful wooden floor). Delicious breakfast served in a peaceful setting to the sound of classical music, felt as if guests came for a private event as opposed to a regular touristy meal. Amazing location in the middle of country side. I just so much came to peace, while staying there, that it felt like I had a small vacation on vacation.

A great stay to try some authentic Icelandic foods in the restaurant. Well worth the stay for that experience alone. There is a pathway from the hotel along the shoreline which makes for a pleasant walk. Stayed one night whilst travelling north and would recommend for a short stay.
