Not great. The information on Booking.com is misleading. The hotel to all extents and purposes was closed thus no bar or restaurant. My accommodation was in a hostel annex with shared bathroom and poorly equipped kitchen and my room could not be locked from the outside. Thankfully I only stayed one night.
Featuring lake views, Höfði Cottages in Dalvík offers accommodation, an outdoor swimming pool, an open-air bath, a garden and barbecue facilities.

Great location with a nice hot tub on the patio outside. The living room was spacious and allowed a perfect view over the mountains. Clean and tidy, we enjoyed our stay

Super cozy studio with a beautiful view of the fiords. Bonus: we managed to see the Northern lights! The studio had everything needed, cozy room, nice shower and amenities plus coffee and laundry machine if needed. You feel at home there.

The hotel has a fully equipped restaurant kitchen to use for cooking your meals. The dining and lounge areas are full of windows overlooking the water and mountains that surround you.
There are free laundry facilities, billiards and parking. They even offer kayaks for guests to use on the water across the street from the lodging.

This place is such a vibe. It is so cosy and simple. It really gives of country vibes. All needed
amenities where there. We were only four people staying there but it is equipped for up to 8. When
staying there definitely consider using the nice hot tub at night. Its just great.

Smartly designed and maintained interior, comfortable beds, convenient bathrooms and breakfast room which is small for the house but if one can arrange its shared use with other guests, no problem there. Nice coffee on the ground floor unfortunately opening as we were leaving at 10:30. As is usual in Iceland you don't meet the host (all is beautifully informal) but feel cared for anyway.

Our stay was extremely pleasant. Grenivik Guesthouse has been a beautiful surprise in the North of Iceland after days of camping. We would've definitely loved to stay longer to enjoy the peace, the comfort and the landscape. The house was very clean, our room was very comfortable and big enough for two, and all the common spaces were really well organized so we had our privacy but also some lovely interaction with other guests, and the hot tub has been a very pleasant extra to enjoy at sunset.
But the best part of our stay was definitely Ingólfur, the host. His welcoming was very warm and kind, he was very open and helpful as a host, he gave us a lot of tips as soon as we arrived, and prepared us a really delicious breakfast with a lot of local ingredients. Ingólfur was also very kind to stay with us during our breakfast -and even longer- to talk with us about Icleand history, traditions, culture, geography and all the curiosities we had. He has a special place in our hearts.

We went to Dalvík so we could ride horses at the Tvistur horse farm. Then we went north to the Herring Era Museum. I would highly recommend both. It was nice traveling in the north of Iceland because there were so few tourist. The snow capped mountains in the area were hugged by mist making for some very pretty photos.

I booked last minute and I've got all the info right away, self check-in was super easy. The cottage was perfect, big and super cozy inside with very comfortable beds. The view from the terrace was top notch. The place was very clean inside/out and the host was welcoming and quick to answer to my message. The hot tub on the patio was the perfect touch for a bit of relax after a long and cold day. Probably the best accommodation I've been in Iceland, value for money too. I'll definitely be back!!
Dalvik Hostel Gimli was way beyond our expectation. Placed in a lovely quaint town with a beautiful view of the sun set over the marina.. it was very cosy and comfortable especially for the kids. Our host was very accommodating as we were on the road for a while and although we reached late he was there to welcome us and show us around. Thanks.
We visited Dalvík for Erasmus project in March 2025 and the cottages were stunning. Absolutely wonderful Bjarni who welcomed us with such an enthusiasm and positive energy. Clean and quiet place with magical view on the sea and mountains. Recommended!
We come to Dalvík every year to skiing, and we always rent this apartment, it’s so nice and modern and very warm and cosy. We recommend if you are thinking about to visit Dalvík.
