The location is great to view the Studlagil Canyon in the evening and/or 1st thing in the morning. The room is tiny, but it has everything you need. There is a food truck within 100metres where you can grab dinner (open till 6pm) when we visited, or coffee and breakfast. Great location for a quiet night and a dark sky to see the Northern Lights.

family run establishment, the owners were very kind, they even helped us find the Northern Lights! Overall, well managed and clean rooms, ok bathrooms. Good kitchen but unfortunately no sink, but the owners offered to wash the dishes and provide us with the necessary water. highly recommended!

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about our stay in the Hengifoss lodge.
It's a dream to stay here. Once entered you're greeted by the warm smell of ember caused by the wood that was used to make this house. The colours and the layout of the room is incredibly cosy.
The fireplace keeps the house (almost too) warm, and the window + terrace give an exceptional view over the lake and mountains.
The hosts are also amazing and gave us the feeling that we're not only welcome, but also that they really understand why we chose to go to Iceland.
We asked for help with our fireplace and the host, Isabelle, came to the rescue. She tried to help us to lit a fire but to no avail. We did however have a really good conversation. However when she left, we were content enough. Yet still she knocked on the door and winked us to come over. She told us enthusiastically that the Northern Lights were dancing and fully visible, we had to come outside!
The next morning it was kind of raining, a little bit. But the sun was also shining through the clouds. The husband, Steff, called me when I was standing on the terrace. He said: "There is a rainbow there!" and pointed towards slightly behind the house I was standing in front of. I walked to the side and indeed saw a beautiful rainbow.
This might not say much to other people wanting to stay there. But to me it feels like these people have such a connection with Iceland, its beauty and understand that we are there for the same connection, they told us to look at beautiful views which Iceland offers, and we were delighted to follow their guidance.
Thank you Isabelle and Steff, for the warm welcome. Whenever we're in Iceland and planning to go near Eggs, we will definitely make use of your beautiful little houses.

We had a wonderful stay at the wilderness center, highly recommend it!
They called us before arrival to see if we'd like dinner, upon arrival they upgraded us to a private room and it felt like we were staying at a good friend's farm house. The sauna was perfect after a day of driving and hammocks are good for reading a book while the fire warms you. Really cozy. In the morning we checked out the museum included in the price and learned a lot. Coffee was great and the staff very friendly. Thank you for everything!
This is a tiny gem in an unbelievable location. It is a true bargain!
Oh my! Tiny but complete. It has a useful kitchen! Microwave, cooktop with two places, refrigerator, Wi-Fi, kitchen stuff including wine glasses. It's located a hundred meters from the West canyon overlook!
There are only shades on windows, not curtains, so there is endless daylight that sneaks around the edges. Use an eye mask! You have a router all to yourself so strong signal but password is small and located over door. We note this because our neighbor tapped on the door at 20:30 asking if we had the password. Each cabin should be unique but we told him to look over his door.
