It was the most expensive, low-end hotel that I have booked in my entire life. There are no staff on duty, and emails, messages and listed phone number are not contactable at all. It literally feels like a ghost hotel.
Pipes are choked, and breakfasts are not even served, although this has been paid for. The corridor is not lit up at all too.
Seriously would not recommend anyone to stay there, even though it is just a stone throw away from the famous Kirkjufell mountain.

This tiny cozy little place had all the warmth we needed after a long tiring journey. What we loved the most was the room heaters that made it even cozier.
The host is too good and loves to chat 😁

Absolutely wonderful apartment in the centre of Grundafjordur. Perfect base for sightseeing Snaefellsenes and relaxing when done. Fabulously equipped kitchen, spacious living room and 2 cosy and comfortable bedrooms.
The location is just amazing and all the windows look out on the most beautiful views.
A few restaurants, a takeaway and a small supermarket make this a great self catering option.

Grundarfjordur is a convenient town for exploring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. It has a good grocery store and two excellent cafes for coffee & treats. A little food truck is open until the end of August. We stayed here 4 nights so we would have time to explore and I'm glad we did because one day was too stormy to see sights and another day wasn't optimal.

Destination port for cruise ships, correspondingly temporarily overcrowded. All pilgrimage to Kirkjufell (known from social media), which is accordingly overcrowded. Deterrent example of Icelandic mass tourism. :-(

Definitely not worth the extra drive time, town is not set up for tourists at all, hotel was 350 euros, which was very high compared to all other night on our trip. We spent the same, but had much better accommodations. Much more to do in the other towns

The town/village itself is really quite sweet.
The town/village itself is really quite sweet. We didn't spend much time there, but we did drive in to use the grocery store and walk around a bit. Kirkjufell Mountain is really quite stunning and one of the most recognizable Icelandic landmarks. You can just sit and look at it all day.
For such a small town, Grundarfjordur is packed with loads of hotels, guesthouses, shops and places to eat. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

This small mountain gets a lot of positive press and yes, it's kind of cool but really not all that great. We were trying to find it the last time we were here (three years ago) and drove right past it. There is a parking lot on the left as you are leaving town and you need to park and get out for the mountain to "look" like it looks in the pictures you see everywhere- with the waterfalls, etc.
There are numerous sights around Iceland that make this one look like a joke. Still...stopping for 5 minutes to get a picture or two will be worth it but you won't look back on this one and remember how awesome it was.

Nice cosy place run by a Friendly host with his wife. The room are clean and very near to the Kirkjufell. The best thing the host offer to change our room to a better one after a no show from another guest. Nice gesture of them. 😁. And we have 2 hours of aurora sightings just in front of the hotel too. Thanks for making our trip special. Best wishes to the host and his family and the team of the guesthouse.
