The room was big, very modern and clean. The hot tubs in the garden are wonderful, and the hotel provides bathrobes free of charge. If you skip the room cleaning, they give you a voucher for the restaurant. The restaurant was a bit pricy but the food was amazing!

We drove over the mountain through a white-out blizzard and were thankfully able to check in a little early. Staff were super-helpful and we felt very welcome.
Drove back to Hverir once the storm cleared and that was cool. Came back to an aurora alert in the evening and a comfy sleep once the adrenaline wore off. Clean, modern hotel in a great location. Loved the window-seat for watching the lights.
Set on Lake Myvatn’s northern shore, this property is 5 minutes’ drive from Myvatn Nature Baths. On-site facilities include a communal kitchen, small convenience store and bicycle rental.

Great breakfast and very nice staff.
Pay attention: the check-in is at a separate building on the other side of the road then where you have to go in to get to the bed and breakfast.
The pictures look more polished than what it looks like in real life. But, everything you need is there.

There are 4 spacious bedrooms each with its own attached bathroom in a nicely decorated house with shared living room, dining area, well-equipped kitchen and clothes washer cum dryer. Host provides items like juices, yoghurt, butter, jams, cheese, bread, eggs that we use to prepare our own breakfast. Kitchen has necessary cooking utensils, cooking oil, spices & condiments.
Patio area has lovely sunset views.
Friendly housekeeper met us at checkin & gave detailed explanation of how to operate kitchen appliances. She also recommended nice farmhouse restaurant nearby for meals.

I’m 2/3 of circumnavigating Iceland, and I have to say that this area is the weirdest landscape yet—in a good way. In a small area there are extinct volcanoes, steaming hillsides, lakes with strange lava 'islands', ethereal mountains…….. so strange. So beautiful. Highly recommended.

Spent a day and a half in the Lake Mývatn area. Loved it.
Spent a day and a half in the Lake Mývatn area. Loved it. There is so much to see and do: crater hikes, thermal baths, geothermal areas, bird watching, lava features. And just overall, it has beautiful views of farms and countryside. Both relaxing and exciting. Could easily spent another couple of days without it feeling repetitive.

A "must-visit" bird-watching location in northern Iceland, with great scenery and impressive geo-thermal sites near by. Lots of way-marked walking routes around the lake and several places to get food and shopping.

It's a beautiful lava field and lake system.
It's a beautiful lava field and lake system. Old volcanos and lava flows. Dimmuborgir is a legendary place where the Yule Lads sleep through the summer. Bear in mind that the summer can have hatches of midges.
Krafla Power Station, active geothermal mud pools, Mývatn Nature Baths.
If you travel in the winter it's a great place to see the Aurora as practically no light pollution.
Obviously it's not as nice as Akureyri, but I would say that as I live there

Myvatn Lake certainly has beautiful scenery and the weather is typically warmer than the coast. For the full service/hotel travelers I would recommend Fosshotel. For campers there is plenty of accommodations.

We were very satisfied with the hotel. It had a beautiful design. Even the shower corner was tiled so well that no water leaked into the bathroom! The stunning views of the lake with grazing sheep complemented this beautiful hotel design. The staff was very friendly, and we especially appreciated the excellent chef – the food was truly delicious
Very nice hotel in very good location to explore the area around lake Myvatn. The room was very clean and the beds very comfortable. The breakfast buffet offered a very good variety of food. We can recommend this hotel!
This is an ideal location for viewing the lake and surrounding areas. The view of the lake from our room was amazing. The hotel and rooms are to a good standard even if they seem a little outdated.
The property was super clean and conveniently located on the lake.
Easy drives to Lake Myvatn, Godafoss, Dettifoss, Namafjall geothermal area, Husavik.
