Switch between tub and shower didn't work properly. I had to block the tub tap to have a little of water coming out of the shower. When I complained the next morning, I just received a cold "so sorry about that". It confirmed the feeling I got when checking in... cold and almost arrogant. Spa extra and expensive, restaurant cold and empty...
It’s a perfect base for exploring the golden circle and the south coast. There is only 7 km to Hveragerdi and Selfoss, cities with a wide range of shops and restaurants.

Unique experience in nice and cosy bungalows. There are toilets inside, which was really nice! We thought the toilets would be outside with the showers, but this was not the case. There is a hot tub, but we were so tired that we didn’t go inside it. It is really cool though! The owner was super super nice, she has two cute dogs and a cat who greeted us. On the lawn is a stone and mineral collection of her sister who found them around Iceland. Supercool! We love these kind of personal touches to such locations. It was nice and quiet. A bit windy, but that’s the season. The bungalows are very sturdy. So no issues there.
If I had to name something that I missed, it’s only that the beds are separate, so there is no shared two person bed. But we knew this before we booked it.
Featuring lake views, Lax-á Asgardur Cottages offers accommodation with a garden, around 30 km from Thingvellir National Park. This property offers access to a patio and free private parking.

The property is about 15-20 minutes north of Selfoss where you can get most things you would need for a self catering holiday. The location also means that most of the Golden Circle spots are not far away and we even drove down to Diamond Beach and back in a day, which was a journey never to be forgotten for its superb scenery and iceberg boat trip.
The house is easy to find even if down a track off the main road (Google maps will take to the the track that is now blocked, so you need the other one about 30m further north). There is ample parking for up to 3 cars. When we went into the house it looked far better than the photos, especially the deck out over the river which was superb (on a nice day!). The views from the kitchen window and the lounge were also wonderful. One reason I chose this house is that it seemed to be far more nicely furnished than many others I had looked at in the area and we were not let down by the reality.
Even though the description said 5 bathrooms, there were only in fact 2 shower rooms (one en suite and the other a family bathroom - the other 3 were hand basins off each twin room), however this was never a problem and there were 6 adults in our family. The kitchen is well equipped and the huge lounge is great for relaxing after a long day's hiking, horse riding or whatever. The TV had Netflix. There are blinds on each window that are effective (you need them if it never gets dark).
The sauna was a hit as was the hot tub outside, again with superb views.
Communication from the owners (Vala) was quick and she was always very helpful.
Our children (very fussy and frank in their views) thought this was the best place we have stayed in so far, which is saying something as I always try and find nice houses wherever we go as a family.
Overall I would recommend this property highly to families coming to sample the true wonders of Iceland's scenery - the house is spacious and very cosy on colder days.
We loved everything in Selfoss. It was a great decision pin this city for our accommodation.
Not too far from either ways to reach the airport/Reykjavik or the most famous sightseeings. It was actually a better experience in comparison to Reykjavik. Somehow the main city felt to us so ordinary but Selfoss is a calmful and beautiful little city with full of helpful and smiley local people and amazing food and crafted beers.
Special highlight for the Rösti Burgers, Fish of the days/Fish n chips and the Viking Beers. The crafted beers were sooo tasty and fresh which I just experienced in beer museums before.
Bonus that the beach is just 10 min away by drive which was a great spot to chase the Northern Light.

Selfoss was a great location for us as we toured the southwestern coastal area and Thingvellir National Park. The 'New Old Town' is a wonderful destination while staying in Selfoss--great food choices, as well as a pub and a coffeeshop.

I read a lot of bad press about Selfoss online, as you enter some of the commercial buildings are off-putting, but underneath is a beautiful village with a river, woods, perfect central location to complete all icelandic activities. The restaurant and food options have everything from fast food to fine dining. I have literally no idea why anyone would say something bad about it.

Selfoss is a nice little village with all needs for a stay, like supermarkets, fast food and regular restaurants. Good change of seeing the aurora here (we saw it). Closeby all major tourist attractions in the southeast of Iceland. Please do note that Selfoss is on a moutain road to Reykjavik. In Winter (we were here in january) this road can be hard to pass with a normal car. Lost of snow, ice, storm etc, So drive slowly and carefully, especially if you are not used to the Icelandic weather.

There are many sights to see within an hour's drive, plus plenty nearby, like a local hike through a park along the river. There are good options for food and shopping, although the traffic can get a little congested at times.

Eventually we only had a short walk in Selfoss and had two dinners as we were driving through and staying one night on our way back. Should we have had more time, I wish to have visited at the thermal river just 20min drive from Selfoss city center.

The cabin was very warm, quite basic but had everything you need for a few days. It had a hob and a microwave with good pressure shower. Nicely set amongst the trees. About a 15min walk to the supermarket and restaurants. Selfoss is a great location to explore the golden circle and south coast if you don't want to stay in Reykjavik. 1hr 20mins easy drive from the airport. Free parking on site.
Location this hotel is really great. We felt in this village like in some christmas movie. Everything you need is really close - a great food hall and supermarket. Best attractions were around 1 hour ago - Geysir, Reykjavik and waterfalls. Good choice when you want to visit more places and stay at one place.
Great location to visit the sights (Golden circle, Reykjavík) Nice and pleasure atmosphere in a calm hotel. The room was clear with a convenient bed. The breakfast was abundant and tasty. Stefan the staff in the restaurant was super nice. He was always open to give some nice tourist advices.
The cabin is really cozy. It's location is perfect (great for visiting Reykjavík, the Golden circle, Vik and Blue Lagoon. Close to Selfoss, where you can get groceries etc. It also has a great view. Recommended!
The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Self check-in is easy.
The ground floor has a restaurant that can order your dinner or breakfast.
The location is good.
