Surrounded by a fjord in the northern town of Siglufjördur, this hotel is 100 metres from Adalgata main street and 17 km from Ólafsfjördur town centre.

The position, the breakfast and the Maroccan restaurant and the politeness of the people at desk and at the restaurant.

Situated in Siglufjörður in the North Iceland region, Scenic Penthouse - Ocean view & skylight windows has a patio and mountain views.

Starting with the positiv aspects of this apartment. Its interior is so nicely designed and gives of a really nice cozy modern vibe. All needed amenities exist and work great except one but more later. The contact with the host is easy. Now to the not so amusing stuff. It seemed like it hasn’t been cleaned for some time and definitely not after their last visitors. The bed wasn’t made and it really didn’t seem like the bedsheets were changes since the last visitors. Their were stains on the pillow cases and on the bed sheet. Not quite appealing. Another point is, the amount of people able staying there. We booked for four people but there was only a single bed and a couch not nearly big enough for two people. And now to the washing machine. Note: never turn on this washing machine when you are at home. This washing machine is indescribable loud. It is comparable with a helicopter flighting by. When we tried stopping it it didn’t work so we couldn’t sleep probably. And last the most disgusting point. As we opened the organic waste bin, there was a rotten and already extremely banana and other food wastes in there. I hope this was just unfortunate incident, because other than our problems we had with the apartment it has a lot of potential.

The room was tiny but super cozy and comfortable. We did not use the big communal space, but the guest house is nice, well kept and organized.

These Northern Iceland wooden bungalows are 50 minutes’ drive from Akureyri. Each has a private terrace with an outdoor hot tub and mountain views of the Tröllaskagi Peninsula.

This place is such a vibe. It is so cosy and simple. It really gives of country vibes. All needed amenities where there. We were only four people staying there but it is equipped for up to 8. When staying there definitely consider using the nice hot tub at night. Its just great.

We didn't have much time to spend here, however, just spending a couple of days at the hotel and walking around the area would be wonderful. It's a beautiful hotel and area to sit around and relax or soak in the hot tub admiring the amazing views. The museum and some restaurants were closed when I went in March. There is definitely more to do in the summer months.

Siglufjordue is an interesting fishing village with a long history of herring fishing which is documented in the excellent museum opposite the waterfront. The drive along the north coast to get to the village was a bit hairy, but we drove back to Reykjavik via the equally scenic southern route which wound through the glacial valley between the mountains. I'm glad we were able to get to and back from Siglufjordur by different routes. The cafe at the Herring museum was very expensive as is most/all of Iceland - $85 Aussie for soup and a tasteless sandwich for 2 seemed very steep. Unfortunately, the fish and chip shop doesn't open on weekends which seems strange. We enjoyed excellent pizzas in TORGID, the yellow painted building on the quay across from the Siglo Hotel. Mine was Pepperoni and date!

Siglufjörður is a charming town located in a beautiful Icelandic fjord. We really enjoyed the herring museum and the folk music museum. It gave us a great glimpse into the culture of the area. Our hotel, Siglo Hotel, was beautiful - large comfortable rooms with lots of charm and great service!

We went to Siglufjordur because we saw it in the Netflix series Trapped. We were there for just one night. In retrospect I wished that we had stayed longer to see all of the sites. We did see the Herring Era musuem, but they also have a music museum which we did not have time for. The scenery is gorgeous.

    Siglufjörður is simply wonderful.

Siglufjörður is simply wonderful. One of the my favorite place in Iceland. I will probably stay at Siglu hotel next time. I have stayed there and it is wonderful. They have an excellent breakfast buffet. There is so much to see but I just love the fjord and the mountains. Higly recomment it.
