Shower pressure was horrible, it was a slow drip. Not enough power outlets for a triple room - only 1 outlet in the room for 3 people. Very expensive compared to other accomodation we stayed along Iceland. Close to the restaurants and shops, breakfast buffet was a nice selection with fresh waffles, yoghurt, cold cuts and fruit
Hotel Katla is located in South- Iceland, 5 km from Vik i Myrdal. The surrounding South Coast is a land of dramatic landscapes and unforgettable natural treasures, all within easy reach.

Apart from the male staff member coming into womens changing rooms to take the towels without announcing himself or checking if anyone is there, the rooms were clean and the location was very convenient
Opened in July 2018, Hótel Kría is situated in Vík. Among the various facilities are a garden and a bar. There is a restaurant. The black sand beaches begin about 5 minutes' walk from the hotel.
This hotel is in southern Iceland, 9 km from Vík í Myrdal. It offers free WiFi in public areas and in the rooms.

Clean rooms however if you want to see the Aurora, note that houses around the property keep their lights on they are really bright. Kitchen is well equipped and in a lovely shared area
Set a 10-minute drive from Vik village, this quietly located countryside hotel offers rooms with a seating area, large flat-screen TV and free WiFi. The Skógafoss Waterfall is 22 km away.

Handy location just outside Vik. Exceptionally clean and comfortable room. Very good breakfast.
Situated in Vík town centre, this historic century-old hostel is a 10 minutes’ walk from Vík’s famous black beach. Guests have access to a communal, well-equipped kitchen and shared seating area.

Great little charming town in the middle of nowhere. close to Dyrholaey, the Black Sand Beach and many waterfalls and glaciers. Excellent base for southern coast. Has everything you need including a few great restaurants, grocery store, liquor store(very expensive), and store for outdoor wear if you need it.

How can one come to Iceland and not stay in Vik?
How can one come to Iceland and not stay in Vik? We had a fabulous dinner at a restaraunt that was in an old white building, like a house, cannot remember the name. We had a delicious bread basket with fresh butter, pesto, and a red aioli. Dinner was trout and arctic char that was caught locally. For dessert we shared an amazing apple pie that had a tiny bit of crunchy morsels in the streusel topping with a side of ice cream. It was top notch.

The black sand beach was amazing but other than that and it being a convenient stop for folk visiting the glacial lagoon and diamond beach, we preferred other locations in Iceland.
The area along Route 1 is quite commercial with a large hotel and apartments, a shopping complex and a gas station. Unfortunately the guesthouse we booked into was sub-par and we were so keen to leave we didn't venture into "old Vic", so can't really comment on that part of the town.
Of the places we stayed in Iceland, Vic was our least favourite in terms of access to other key attractions in the area, but we were there in September in some questionable weather so can't really comment on hiking opportunities or anything.

Vik is a cute town and the beach/rock formations and church are beautiful. We ate at Wok in Vik which was very good--and from there you can take the path to walk to the beach. It would have been great for Northern Lights viewing but was too cloudy when we were there. It is about a half day visit unless you decide to do horseback riding or other tours.

A lot was happening in this small town.
A lot was happening in this small town. Besides the iconic black sand beach, there were many restaurants, shops and markets. Several tours met in the town which made Vik a convenient spot to stay. We stayed only one night, but could have easily spent more time there.

The Smidjan brewpub provided excellent beers and delicious food. Vik has several helpful stores, including a hardware store, a grocery store, and the large Icewear store. There were several phenomenal hikes in the area (Reynisfjall mountain and Black Sand Beach right from town), and the Solheimajokull glacier and Kirkjufjara Beach a short drive away. We had a car, but it was easy and convenient to walk everywhere within Vik.
Super stylish property just outside Vik on the main South coast road, near the black sand beach/needles. Great value for money as long as you don't mind sharing (in fact we got our own room as the hotel was so quiet). Kitchen facilities are excellent (self-catering in Iceland saves you a LOT of money). Plenty of hot water and very clean. Very highly recommended.
The rooms are a good size and comfortable. If noise bothers you, ask for a room at the end of the corridor. All hotels in Iceland have the same noise problem: neighbors slam the door when closing it. There is a market nearby.
Nice view but not excactly a "beach" view.
Exellenct location, just a few minutes drive from Vik.
This is the best room we stayed in Iceland!
Well equipped kitchen with all the essential bit like salt and pepper etc.
Room was nice and the staff were really nice. I think for what you get compared to other hotels in Iceland this hotel is lagging behind. No spa etc and gym was awful
Nice hotel just off highway 1 in southern Iceland; no more than 20 min drive to either Skogafoss or downtown Vik; big comfortable rooms; splendid breakfast.
