The central location, the fifth floor bar/breakfast room newly renovated and with great view, good quality breakfast, new lifts, staff helpful and professional, we changed room without any problem because the one assigned had no wi-fi, and I had a massage of good quality.

The walled town of Alghero on Sardinia’s west coast has an altogether more down-to-earth vibe than the more exclusive Emerald Coast on the opposite side of the island. In fact, it feels more Catalan than Italian.
The seafront walls and defensive towers surrounding the historic centre were actually built by the Catalans in the 16th century, and many residents still speak a dialect from that era. However, Sardinia has been inhabited since prehistoric times, and the Nuraghe di Palmavera stone dwellings outside the town are evidence of this. Another nuraghic site is Anghelu Ruju, near Alghero Fertilia Airport.
South of the airport is sandy Maria Pia Beach which continues all the way to Alghero harbour and is lined with beachfront hotels, bars and restaurants offering tasty seafood, including local lobster. Boat trips leave the harbour to Neptune’s Grotto along the coast. Next door is Nereo Cave, supposedly the largest Mediterranean sea cave and a popular diving spot.
Also worth visiting are the pedestrian streets of the old town, packed with shops and pavement cafés. Also here are 16th-century Palazzo d’Albis and the cathedral with its mixed architectural styles.
The Alghero accommodation on Booking.com includes 5-star hotels with pools, cheap B&Bs and apartments with parking.

Alghero offers everything, beautiful old narrow streets, stunning architecture, lots of green areas. Great restaurants offering a very wide variety of food and good value. Family friendly, great beaches, lots of water sports, daily boat trips from the harbor. We received a warm welcome everywhere we went.

Alghero is an interesting town of several parts.
Alghero is an interesting town of several parts. The old town and harbour area are very touristy and crowded. There is a plethora of bars and restaurants but many of these are, perhaps, overly expensive. There are interesting museums to visit and excursions available. I would suggest that anyone visiting for more than a day buys the Alghero Experience ticket which is excellent value and available from the Tourist Information office. The more residential areas we also found interesting to walk around and we discovered several local bars. The best meal we ate was at the Piccola Cucina, on the edges of the main tourist areas - fantastic food and at a reasonable price. A visit to Alghero necessarily means a fair bit of walking if you really want to explore it.

The old town streets, restaurants and sea promenade are wonderful. We didn’t eat in a bad place! There are several beaches in the area to visit but we loved La Pelosa an hour away by car. People were v friendly even though it’s touristy.

The old town has a lovely atmosphere but cobbled streets may not be to everyone's taste. Loads of restaurants as long as you like pasta and pizza. We were here mid September and it was still necessary to book.
Limited bus service so you may want to hire a car or bike.
Cocktails on the harbour 7.50 Euros. What's not to like.

Although Alghero does not abound in a multitude of historical monuments, the old town is very pretty and charming. The city offers numerous restaurants serving traditional Sardinian cuisine and a promenade along the sea with beautiful views. In the surrounding area, there are excellent beaches and the stunning Neptune's Grotto.

A really comfortable beautiful country boutique hotel where you can fully relax, while enjoying the local food and the beautiful surroundings. Close to Alghero, a beautiful lively little town where you can eat and shop until late. The hotel staff is very friendly and helps you with all your questions on what to do in the neighborhood. Also staying in the hotel is a must, enjoy the swimming pool, tennis court and the great food home-made m.
Country Hotel Vessus is situated in the middle on a beautiful olive tree garden. One can be immersed into relaxation and tranquility while staying there. The breakfast is a decent, continental one. Even if the location is in the outskirts of Alghero, it is only 10 minutes drive/30-40 minutes walk to the city center. Not all personnel speak English, however we managed to understand each other conveniently. The room is big enough
The accommodation was comfortable and easy access to the beautiful port city of Alghero, the multitude of restaurants and bars were within an easy walking distance from the accommodation. This is a beautiful city to visit, so much to do, such a vibrant place, beautiful people everywhere the port area is busy all the time. This place was a highlight of our trip to Sardinia
Wonderful, welcoming staff. Great location and very walkable to the historic centre. Our room was spacious, the delicious breakfast was very ample and we could not have asked for more.
We are looking forward to going back to charming Alghero soon, and really hoping to be able to stay at Hotel Domomea again.
Fabulous room . Bed was so comfortable. The best bed in Sardinia. Location was perfect and lots of Parking around the apartment. Close to everything but very quietnoth. Sonia is really lovely and speaks good English. Easy check in.
