Cortona is a beautiful place to visit. We went during the quiet season and it was very cold and damp. Since we are from Florida it wasn’t great weather for us. The town is very hilly, so be prepared to get a work out. Shop owners and restaurant staff were all very friendly. Cortona is in great proximity to other towns and the views are breathtaking, even in the winter. Definitely one of the Toscana towns that are a must see.

Cortona has changed since we were there in 2014.
Cortona has changed since we were there in 2014. It was a nice quiet, hilltop Italian village. It's not as quiet as it was then. It has become a very touristy town. It has many shops and restaurants and is very busy. If this is what you are looking for, then this town is for you. The surrounding area is pleasant to visit.

A beautiful, quintessential Umbrian / Tuscan town with vistas at every turn, great dining and shopping and much history. Be prepared to do serious walking on steep hills (this is a mountain top village, after all).

Cortona is a beautiful walled city.
Cortona is a beautiful walled city.
There are lots of cultural traditions to see, and enjoy
Do some research before you go so that you can witness some of the activities. We saw, quite by chance the finals of the National Crossbow competition complete with a procession through the city of the band flag throwers and Archers all in full medieval dress, it was amazing.
Art is featured prominently as in all of Italy.
All the old cities are built on hills so there is a fair amount of walking on steep roads, to get the value of your visit.

Lovely old renovated farmhouse on small agriturismo. We stayed in the 3 bedroom house which is downstairs from apartment. Beautiful pool and garden area. Very peaceful.
The owner, Francesco, is an excellent host- very friendly and welcoming. He gave us a lot of useful information for places to see locally and even the best places to park.
Great location- within an hour’s drive of many interesting places to visit- Cortona, Siena, Assisi, Montepulciano etc.
Villa Aurelia is a beautiful property in a beautiful setting, away from the crowds and impossible parking of Cortona, but close enough for an easy visit. My room, in a small building separate from the main hotel, was lovely, the swimming pools were clean and beautiful and the restaurant served very good food. The chef even packed me an excellent picnic lunch on a day that I was going out to explore the Tuscan countryside in my rental car.
We fell in love with the apartment and with Cortona of course. The apartment was amazing, one of the best we have been in Italy. It really made our staying enjoyable and even a bit luxurious. The apartment has magic!
I think we have to come to visit Cortona again some day just to get to live those days in this apartment again. The roof terrace is amazing, everything is clean and every detail has made with a thought. Loved it!
Terre dei Cavalieri is a totally renovated farmhouse, with ample rooms, bathrooms, beautiful swimming pool area, very good restaurant.
Excellent location to visit Cortona and adjacent areas in Tuscany and Umbria.
Everything clean and organized.
Restaurant was fully booked on Saturday night, local people like the place and the food.
Location is just fine for either visiting Cortona or the rest of the Tuscany area. Hosts were great. The appartment has all that you need during the short or long stay.
