Very nice lady on reception and she served breakfast in the morning. Breakfast was plentiful. Restaurants next door was very good and good value for money.

    In the historic center complex of Palazzo Corsini, located in the upper part of Fucecchio, the historic Abbey of San Salvatore merits a visit, not far, you’ll find the Collegiate Church of San Giovanni Battista. In Fucecchio in the month of May, the Palio delle Contrade challenge is held. It's a centuries-old competition that dates back to the Middle Ages and which involves a week of parades, re-enactments, historical processions and other events, culminating in the horse race. The winning district is awarded the prestigious Cencio.

    WE LOVED THE VILLA! It has an unbelievable olde worlde charm and is set well away from other human habitation. Its location is fairly remote, but since we had a vehicle that did not pose a problem for us, and we enjoyed the peace and quiet, as well as the calming ambience. when we returned from visiting some of the busier tourist magnets that were in easy reach, either by car or train. The railway station Fucecchio/San Miniato is easily accessible, and we had no trouble parking. Our host, Giovanni, was always charming and most obliging.

    We were upgraded to stay in Hotel Le Vedute, a very pleasant, large building with a swimming pool and restaurant. We had spacious rooms, and made use of the pool and pool bar. All the staff were really friendly and helpful, organising luggage transfer for us. This is a good stop to break up an otherwise long day on the Via Francigena - it's a short walk off the route. Both breakfast and our evening meal (half board, so chosen from a fairly limited but varied menu) were excellent.
