This property offers a Special Protection Program, a strict program of precise safeguards dedicated to our guests and our staff.

The room and interior of this hotel was so much nicer than some of the BW chain hotels I’ve stayed at in the UK. The room was very modern, clean and spacious, and our dog was welcome (even in the restaurant). The food in drinks in the restaurant was reasonable and of a very good standard, with very attentive service. We have an EV and had no problem charging in the hotel’s car park. Staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Located in Parma’s historical centre opposite the Palazzo della Pilotta, the 4-star Hotel Stendhal is just 600 metres from Parma Train Station.

Overall, the hotel location, central to places of interest and a short walking distance from the rail station. Accommodation was 5* - we had a balcony on 2 sides, table & chairs to relax with breakfast or at the end of the day. Very spacious room and clean. The breakfast food was fantastic - lots of choice and would accommodate all guests. Milk wasn't available in our room - this was easy obtain by the receptionist. So thank you to her. Would highly recommend this hotel and will be back again.

Picturesque Parma Packs a Punch

Picture elegant cobblestone streets and piazzas full of well-dressed locals eating and drinking at a café or deli filled with delicious delicacies. Parma, most famous for its Parmagiana cheese and prosciutto, also provides nourishment for admirers of architectural pleasures.

It's easy to explore the historic city centre on foot or by bike. Romanesque churches to admire include the 12th-century Cathedral and Baptistery of Parma, and the neoclassical San Pietro church in central Garibaldi Square.

The 16th-century complex of Palazzo della Pilotta houses the National Gallery and the Baroque-style Teatro Farnese. Museo Lombardi holds important artworks and documents.

A thrilling and unique spectacle is to watch an Italian opera written by Parma’s favourite son, Giuseppe Verdi, at the acclaimed Teatro Regio. The Festival Verdi is held annually in October to celebrate his achievements.

Parma is a charming city with wonderful things to see, including the Duomo (Cathedral), Baptistry, Teatro Regio, and the Pilotta and Toscanini Museums. The food is excellent, with many opportunities to sample the famous parma ham and parmigiano reggiano cheese, both of which originate from the area, There are great restaurants and cafes/bars, and many pedestrianised areas.

This busy town has a great deal to offer. The Palazzo de la Pilotta is a must see. It contains an archaeological museum, a fabulous art gallery with a stunningly beautiful Leonardo da Vinci, a huge, mind-boggling wood theatre built inside an enormous hall, and an ancient library. The Baptistery, the Cathedral and the Sanctuario de Santa Maria Della Steccata are well worth visiting not just for their architectural beauty but for their stunning frescoes. And be sure to walk through the lovely ducal park.

Parma is a wonderful city and I would absolutely go back! It is like a slice of Florence with amazing food and historic sites, but without the long lines and crowds. There are tons of restaurants to choose from and it is an easy trip to Modena and Maranello to see the Ferrari museums.

Nice city and the area we lived in seemed safe.

Nice city and the area we lived in seemed safe. Just next door we had a Big supermarket. The inner city ( historical area) is quit small but we used most of our time just strolling around in the Streets looking at People and Daily Life. There is a beautiful park for some Nice walks. We had 4 nights (arriving late afternoon and departure in morning) and it was enough. Prices are about half of the ones in Bologna, so if that’s important to you, stay in Parma.

I think Parma is an underrated gem, we really wished we could have stayed longer and explored the wonderful history of the city in more depth. We'd had some fantastic food there too. Would definitely consider a return, maybe for the Verdi Festival as it would have been great to see an opera there.

Parma is a very friendly city, and we felt extremely safe at all times. It is very low on traffic considering it is a city, just be aware of the many cyclists who seem to share both the pavements and the roads. There seems to be little beyond Parma ham and Parmesan cheese but you can find eateries that cater for non meat eaters. Price wise, it’s below average for a city but not as cheap as some, we found Bologna lower priced for cafe food. We did a half day walking food tour which we thoroughly recommend.

Property exactly as pictured, very nice location, overall we had a good time despite minor issues. The property manager responded very quickly and tried to help when he could. They have air conditioning in every room, in summer it must be nice. We were a bit concerned that we had to enter our details online and pay the tourist tax before seeing the property, but everything was okay in the end, I guess those are just the rules in Italy. Overall I would recommend the apartment for 3-4 people, for us as a couple it was nice but very large :)
