Set on Portovenere's seafront, this hotel features a terrace overlooking the small port and Palmaria Island. Set in a 17th-century monastery, it is a few steps from the town center.

The owner is a gem. So helpful all the time.
There are a lot of stairs to get to the room but the view is wonderful.
Parking is a bit away but a secure garage. We didn’t need the car after arrival until we left again

Portovenere is quieter and just as pretty as the cinque terre villages and you can get there by car. The town has things to do and see plus good restaurants and beaches. It's a good place to catch a ferry to the cinque terre (a day ticket gives you access to all of them) and I think this is the best way to visit.

Portovenere was small and not overcrowded.
Portovenere was small and not overcrowded. We visited Cinque terra with lots of people. We ate out in different restaurants every night. All exceptionally good. We were looking for a relaxing holiday. It was ideal.

I LOVE Portovenere.
I LOVE Portovenere. This was my second time there - I visited Cinque Terre in 2010, and arrived in Portovenere on the ferry. After only an hour, I fell in love. When my husband and I planned our trip this year, I knew I wanted to share this special place with him. He now loves it as much as I do. It has all the beauty, culture, and history of Cinque Terre, with more open waterfront and many fewer tourists. It is relaxed and out-of-the-way and inviting. We had three wonderful dinners, all featuring local seafood. All the restaurants have outdoor seating and many are dog-friendly. The Monday morning market was a fun surprise. It is easy to get to Cinque Terre on the ferry, and to La Spezia by bus or taxi, and from there you can catch the train to Cinque Terre and other sites up and down the coast. There is plenty to see and do in town - the church and castle, the beach, the wharf, the shops, classes in making your own pesto, and much more we didn't have time to discover. I would go back tomorrow if I could!

My initial review was mistakenly for a previous B.Com property in Rumaggiore. Apologies. Staying in too many B.Coms ! All in a sequence.
La Calata was the best we stayed in all trip. Really excellent. Friendly caring host. Met us in the street to help get the right door. Fantastic place. Lovely views. We’d stay again - any day. The facilities and comfort couldn’t be beaten.

It's in a beautiful setting but, to visit Cinque Terre, you'd be better off somewhere like Levanto or in one of the villages inland, which are very quiet but lovely (and a quarter of the cost!) Even in late September and some awful weather, Porto Venere is packed with tourists and people from cruise ships so it's harder to enjoy it.

It's a fantastic location overlooking the waterfront. The kitchen was well equipped with a cooktop, microwave and coffee machine and there was more than enough cutlery and crockery.
The bathroom includes a washing machine which was great after several weeks of travelling.
The rooftop terrace was a lovely spot to sit with a drink and some snacks at the end of a long day out and about.
The lift up from the street is great after dealing with the hills of Portovenere and the Cinque Terre.
The location is perfect as a starting point to visit the Cinque Terre as the boats depart very regularly from Portovenere. Lorella, the landlady, assisted us excellently during our stay! Nice to have a garden with the necessary furniture to have an aperitive and just relax in the deckchairs.
A very nice hotel in Portvenere. It is a family owned place directly at the entrance of the old town! The village is a must to visit when you are in the area!
Old & charming family-run hotel with good central situated. Very good breakfast with many cakes and good Cappucino. The staff is very welcoming and lovely.
