The views from our balcony and almost every area of the hotel was simply breathtaking.
The manager and staff were wonderful.

Sabatino, our host, was always available and responded to all our requests almost immediately and willingly. He was waiting for us upon arrival, was very helpful, explained everything, and even assisted with parking (private space available for an additional €10 per day, which is very reasonable in this area).
The apartment is located on the second floor in the center of Scala, with no elevator. The view of Ravello and a bit of the sea is breathtaking.
Each room has its own bathroom; however, some have not been renovated yet, but are still usable. The kitchen is equipped with the essentials and has a large fridge. It is also due for renovation, but it serves its purpose perfectly. For us, a group of five, having a dishwasher would have made our stay a bit easier.
All rooms are air-conditioned. Next to the entrance, there is a small grocery store, and very close by are a butcher, a greengrocer, and a café.
Boasting pool with a view and views of pool, Villa Amì is a bed and breakfast set in a historic building in Scala, 1.8 km from Marina Grande Beach.

Villa Ami is an absolute delight. Spectacular views, comfortable rooms and a peaceful spot overlooking Amalfi and towards Ravello. This all said, the true secret to VA is the people. Imma, Lucia and Sabrina are wonderful and generous hosts. Every morning we had a fun and delicious breakfast together. They helped us with local guidance, including restaurants (Ristorante San Giovanni was a fan favourite!), buses, transfer cars and speed boat hires. Nothing was too much trouble. They made our stay a pleasure and we miss them all! We went from strangers to firm friends and look forward to seeing them again soon!
My girlfriend and I have spent time on the Amalfi coast previously, so we deliberately wanted to avoid the large crowds you get in staying in Positano, Amalfi etc (no knock on either place, which we love, but we wanted something different). Villa Ami was a lovely escape. As they say in the property description, getting there requires some walking up & down stairs. Don’t be put-off by this. There are means to get luggage to Ami (the donkeys are a fun adventure!) and the views, community and friendship you receive in return are well worth it. We can’t wait to return!

Pinguino B&B in Scala is a wonderful retreat, offering tranquility far from the crowded towns of the Amalfi Coast. Its location is perfect for those looking for a peaceful getaway while being just a short walk away from the charming town of Ravello. Scala itself has hidden gems worth exploring, including the ruins of the ancient basilica and the Dragon Park, both offering a glimpse into the town's rich history and beauty.
The on-site restaurant at Pinguino B&B serves incredibly delicious food, and the atmosphere is simply delightful. Whether you're enjoying a meal or just relaxing at the property, you'll feel welcomed and immersed in the charm of this special place.

The apartment was really spacious, had a nice private garden with outdoor shower and a balcony overlooking Amalfi. The staff was very proactive, responsive, and very kind. Pontone is a lovely traditional village away from the fuzz of the coast. The stairs to go up and down from Amalfi are really fine if you are in good condition. Considering the comments, we were expecting way worse. Furthermore, if you like hiking, this is a great location to explore the Valle Della ferriere, or to walk via Minuta and Scala to Ravello.

I would highly recommend staying up above the Amalfi coast as it's more peaceful and you can drink in the views every morning and evening. The restaurants tend to be cheaper too. It's not always easy though getting down and back up from the more coastal areas, so think about how you are going to do that every day before choosing to stay somewhere like Pontone, Scala, Minuta etc.

Scala is about 1/2 hour bus drive from Amalfi at a height of 360m. It is a nice and quiet village with various shops and italian bars. It is a relaxing place to stay not far away from Amalfi (for those who like the tourist chaos).
You can find there also so good restaurants to have a special dinner.

For a basic, relaxing holiday with the self-catering, local minimarkets and cafes it is perfect. The problem arises when you want to explore other areas as the public transport we found to be very difficult and stressful. We would recommend hiring a car (if you are brave enough for the roads) or relaxing into not exploring a huge amount.
We loved Da Pietro Caffetteria in Scala. Amazing quality food all from the local area and very reasonably priced. Also, Da Nonno Alfonso in Ravello was incredible too. Such a cute little place with amazing pizzas and dessert. One to book in advance though.
Our holiday was dampened by a lot of rain and thunderstorms so next time we would most likely avoid the time of year we visited (mid-September) and potentially try staying in Minori or Maori instead as these were beachfront with a greater variety of restaurants available - probably noisier and busier though.

Antonio and his family were exceptionally nice and the food served for breakfast and dinner were superb. It was close to the town of Scala where you could catch a bus or eat at a few different restaurants. We walked to Ravello in about 30 minutes which is a really nice quiet village to stroll around in. Nice place to take in the beauty of Italy

Nearby Ravello may be more beautiful, but Scala has more of a sense of community. Also, it was good to get away from the hustle and bustle of the coastal towns of Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento in the evenings, and have no trouble finding restaurants or places to drink. We found a lovely restaurant in Scala's main square, the Ristorante dei Cavalieri, which comes highly recommended. We ate there on three occasions as the food was of such a high standard, the service was exemplary and the cost very reasonable. I also ate at our hotel (Ravello View) on one night, and it proved to be the culinary highlight of our holiday. It was a Sea Bream with cooked vegetables, and it was superb. Located just two to three miles above the coastal resorts of Amalfi and Atrani, and across the valley from Ravello, Scala is a perfect location to discover the delights of the Amalfi Coast and beyond.

Scala is lovely and Ravello walkable If you are fit.
Scala is lovely and Ravello walkable If you are fit. The bus service to Amalfi and Ravello could be a little erratic. Having a car is more of a hinderance than a help. Restaurants and cafes are available. San Lorenzo Cathedral is worth a visit. They still use mules to deliver goods etc in the village. A very quaint town

Antonio and his family were the perfect hosts. They were more than happy to assist with anything we needed like restaurant recommendations. Hotel was lovely, clean, tidy and the rooms were so comfy with amazing views. Pool was brilliant and the kids loved it. Breakfast had a good variety of foods and Antonio kept us going with lots of tea and coffee! We love coming to scala as it's so close to everything. Just a small walk or car ride to Ravello and not far from Amalfi. We will definitely stay here again! Thank you Antonio and family.
I had an amazing stay at Portico Del Paradiso in Scala! The location is stunning, with breathtaking views of the Amalfi Coast. The room was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. What really made the stay exceptional was the service – the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, always going above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. I highly recommend this charming hotel and can’t wait to return!
we stayed at the hotel for 3 days, we really liked it, cozy and clean rooms, amazing breakfasts on the terrace with a beautiful view of the Amalfi Coast from above with a fresh croissant and coffee Michele was very hospitable, told us what you can visit in the Amalfi Coast, and helped with everything he could, we will definitely come back here again, thank you Michele Palazzo Verone♥️
Perfect position in that it's out the way of the noise but close enough to walk to scala. Places to eat everywhere with the closest 50 yards away. Supermarket in the town about a 5min walk. Vila is spot on with more than you expect. You can get the bus from scala to most places as the bus companie is based there.
Such a beautiful view! The personel was so welcoming and helpful. Location was great. We could walk to amalfi, scala and ravello (though that was quite a walk) and we enjoyed it.
