Best ryokan I've had the fortune of staying in. The perfect mix of modern and traditional. Gorgeous onsens both inside and out. Comfy beds and futons. Kind, attentive, and very informative staff. Great facilities. So many ways to enjoy a night in. The night cap was such a lovely touch. The breakfast... WOW. I've never seen such a large, variable, and delicious selection. My only regret is not staying longer.

Our room had a nice view of the river.
The room was clean but needed some restaurations and maintenance.
The food was very good.
The onsen area is clean ,but the window was covered with plastic so we didn't have a great view.
Water also could be warmer in the rotemburo(open air bath)

The ENTHUSIASM, KNOWLEDGE AND WARMTH of the friendly people working in the hotel - Especially Mr. Li Fan - because of his thoughtful arrangements, I delightedly experience the resort’s services and got to see what I wanted to see in the Zao area - with EASE and PEACE like a breeze!!! 🤩🙏 Oh, I must emphasize that - Mr. Li speaks English and Mandarin FLUENTLY - that’s… definitely NOT easy to run into in Japan!!!
And Ms. 橫山道子 - She is SUPER FRIENDLY!!! 🙏

Good location and value for big groups. Not too far from the Zao Onsen Ski Resort, only an hour away by highway, and good onsens in the area. We were given meal voucher tickets when checking in, and ate good at the local restaurant for dinner. Houses were clean and check in was easy.
