Very convenient for riding the Shimanami. Host was fabulous with making restaurant bookings and getting on the road with a hearty breakfast the next morning. Nearby public Onsen fantastic after day of riding

Quiet off-season but we loved WAKKA and had amazing help from Hitome, Ricky and Arashi which made our stay very special. Gorgeous apartment-like accommodation looking out over the bridge—v high end, clean, classy. Delicious local fish meal at restaurant across the road—book through hotel as it’s tiny.
Cycled up to Sakari port for the boat to Rabbit Island where we spent an hour or so cycling and seeing sweet rabbits and scary ruins. Then cycled on round north end of Omishima (one big hill, but manageable with good gears) and back down to the lovely public baths at Mare Gracia. Ricky from WAKKA picked us up in the free shuttle saving us the final bike ride. Thank you!
The island has a very slow pace. Great for relaxing.
The island has a very slow pace. Great for relaxing. We came here on a motorcycle/fishing trip. The motorcycle part was great. The fishing part…. was difficult😩 Lots of chinu (black bream) around and big, but they were not interested in the lures we used. Saw some locals catching them with bait, so we will have to change our strategy next time! Also, squid fishing is quite popular.
One more thing, many restaurants only open for lunch or close/take last orders early so be prepared for this or you’ll be eating convenience store foods!🤣

We were involved in the 7 bridges bike ride over 2 days so we only stayed in Imabari for one night. If I was to do this trip again I would do it over 3 or 4 days in order to stay a little longer and explore.
