It is a stunningly beautiful traditional Japanese gentry house. It is almost impossible to find a house of that quality ((details!) for a tourist stay. It is a true Japanese experience. The decoration is pure beauty.

Breakfast really good for the price - buffet with good Japanese and western options. Really nice and helpful staff. Next door is combini and opposite is a big supermarket (but lacks a lot of hot food options) (there’s a microwave in the hotel lobby though). I arrived at around 6pm and there were probably 2-3 carparks left, when I went to get something around 7:30pm it was full. They do have 2 other carparks a few mins walk away though; all free. It was only a 3 min drive to the Times Carpark (recommended by people on Google) to start the walk up the stairs to temples. Google says it’s a 15 min walk to the start of the stairs but when the weather felt like -6degrees (mid Feb) I was glad to drive.

Perfect location less than a minute from the stairs to the shrine. Only a 10 minute walk to the train. Loads of shops line the stairs. The hotel itself was exceptional: staff, facilities, onsen, restaurant, room - all were absolutely top notch. One of our best stays in Japan!

My stay here was excellent! The organization and preparation were top-notch, and the welcome upon arrival was warm. The stuff were very helpful and courteous from the start, truly wonderful. I ejoyed my stay in the Kabuki theatre, where a well-knolweged guide gave a great commentary. The trip to Konpira San was interesting. You will enojoy the walk to the main builiding, the grand view of Kotohira, the souvenir stores, and the museum with old Japanese paintings and art works.

Relaxed atmosphere, nice walking courses around the hotel.
Relaxed atmosphere, nice walking courses around the hotel. The locals are friendly. The people in the restaurants and shops cater to non-Japanese speaking visitors - menus are in English, and they are equipped with translation apps.

It was a truly lovely experience. I was picked up by the station and given all the right tipps, where to eat and what to do. The hotel has modern (brandnew) facilities and a bweautiful interiour. I was happy dinner was served at the nearby restaurant/bar, since you could sit here in the company of others, while most of the town is falling asleep. The Shabu-Shabu was very tasty, too. The (western) breakfast was all right, just not enough coffee. :)
The location is great, with the famous Kotohira Shrine just nearby the hotel. We love the onsen on the balcony, and exceptional breakfast and dinner prepared to us. Plus point to Judee who serves us with all the patience. The hotel alone would let you take lots of photos, it's too beautiful!

Beautiful design and comfort of the room, onsen design comfort and availability, welcoming items, beautiful hotel, great location on a main walking street. Delicate details in everything - ground coffee, yukata etc.
