The room
Smelled of cigarettes and had chips on the wall. They charged me for breakfast and did not mention it only limited items with Japanese food only. No Restraunt or room service at any given time: they don’t even provide water. Please do not consider

We stayed at Kawaguchiko Hotel for two nights this April and really liked it. We picked the Japanese-style tatami room and it was spacious and the futon was comfortable. Our room faced Lake Kawaguchi directly and there was even a side window with a view of Mt. Fuji.
We also had the breakfast and it was a hearty and healthy meal. They served shabu shabu with thin slices of beef and soft tofu, plus fish, salad, egg, tomato, cheese, rice, more beef, green tea, and fresh fruits. You just need to let the front desk know your preferred time, 7:30, 8:00, or 8:30.
The hotel is around 16-min walk from the train station. But they have a free shuttle to and from the station running from 8 to 10am every 30 minutes. On our last day, we had to catch a 7am train and it was cold so I asked if there was any chance of a shuttle earlier. The younger staff looked unsure but then an older gentleman (I believe his name is Riyoshita-san) said yes, he’d take us. Sure enough, he was there early the next morning, drove us to the station and even offered to take our photo because Mt. Fuji was perfectly clear that day. It was such a sweet gesture and really made our morning.
Highly recommend this hotel. It was peaceful, the food was great, and the service (especially Riyoshita-san, thank you!) really went above and beyond.

Positives- location; cleanliness; onsen.
Negatives- Not really a negative but found it about pricey compared to the other properties. Would be great if they could introduce some vegetarian dishes in the menu.
