Absolutely everything! We had an amazing time, although it was unfortunately way too short, at the guest house. Tomo is an incredible host and he directly made us feel welcome from the beginning. He's very friendly, helpful and funny and he has lots of knowledge about the area. We loved talking to him and spending time with him.
The room itself was really unique, made in a traditional Japanese style, it's very interesting but also comfortable at the same time. Tomo provides lots of blankets and the bathroom is very clean as well.
The location might seem a little difficult to get to, but Tomo offers to pick you up from the nearest train station. If you're coming by car, it's no problem at all and we would recommend having dinner in Mino if you're coming late. Although it's located in an enchanting small village in the mountains with lots of nature, it's still only about 15 minutes by car away from Mino (and the nearest highway exit) and also not far from Gifu and Nagoya, so it's also good if you're only staying overnight and traveling further the next day.
Tomo also offers lots of activities like skiing in the winter and kayaking or SUPing in the summer, which we unfortunately couldn't experience this time, but which sounded very cool.

This is a proper old house you can stay without other customers, so that you can chill and relax freely and be yourself totally.l
Also, since it can accommodate 6 people maximum, value for money could be very high.

Very clean and comfortable, spacious, easy to find our rooms. Good amenities provided, excellent location near Mino IC perfect to stop before driving to the mountains. Scenic locality with a traditional townscape. Heated blanket was perfect after a long drive.
Very kind owners!! They helped us with our car to clear the snow and ice and were very sweet and friendly. Thank you and I'll definitely stay here again.

The staff were very friendly, were easy to communicate with, and responded in a timely manner. The house was gorgeous, and the check-in instructions were easy to follow. There's 7 11 within walking distance, along with a train station and restaurants (at least that's what we thought, depending on what you call walking distance).
This is a city in the countryside of Gifu prefecture, yet it...
This is a city in the countryside of Gifu prefecture, yet it is truly beautiful in its central streets where old traditional dark timber houses stretch for the whole length of the road, lining up in a breathtaking view. At night, the only illumination comes from the lanterns outside these shops, and it is devoid of people. perfect to rediscover peace, silence, and a connection with the land it is impossible to feel in the city.
The train is a one-carriage train with a luxurious design, and you feel you are riding in first class, not the local train.
This is a place to come to slow down, reconnect with nature and listen to the piercing silence. The sheer amount of local crafts and shops makes it unique, as well as truly authentic.
I recommend it for those who want to see a different side of Japan. Maybe not a great show-off, or not quirky like the city, yet special.
