We booked a room with a private onsen and it was an amazing experience! The staff of the hotel were exceptionally nice, helpful and attentive. The location of the hotel is not that close to the attractions in Iya Valley with public transportation, but there are shuttle buses from the hotel to Oboke station and the opposite.
We forgot something in the hotel after our check-out and the staff of the hotel drove all the way to Oboke station especially for us to bring it back.
We really recommend this hotel to anyone who's coming to Iya Valley, and to anyone who's looking for a good private onsen experience with view to the mountains.

We stayed here for three nights, and it was amazing. We also had dinner at the Heso Salon twice, which is part of 4S Stay.
The staff was incredibly friendly, and we felt very welcome. The food was great, and we really enjoyed the beers and sake.
Thank you so much for everything! Dankjewel!
The station is only a one-minute walk away, which is very convenient.

It is really an experience, there are many thing you never seen it, but here, you not just looking at it, but to try it.
The place is very rustic and basic, but the host make you feel comfortable and relax,
He is very details and make you feel like being home.
The most touching is teach you make rice ball in the morning is to prepare for your lunch to bring along (with sauce, chopstick, napkin and seaweed prepare with a carry bag)
Too many things to mention, you should go and experience yourself
Note: Give yourself more time, come early and leave later if possible.

It was a log cottage in the forest. You are surrounded by trees and the river outside the window. The facilities were very modern and had everything we need for our stay. It was very peaceful and we had a great time there as a family.
Featuring beautiful nature views from its rooftop hot spring bath, Hotel Kazurabashi offers Japanese-style rooms and a dining room where food is prepared in the hearth at the guest's table.

The room was immaculate, the dinner and breakfast fantastic, outdoor onsen calm and not too busy at night and in the morning. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

Great area and plenty to see, a car is a must to get around so you can get to all the places out of the way.
It was winter so we were restricted on walks and things to visit.
Love to go back in the Spring or the Fall to experience a whole new world

To say the Iya valley is beautiful would be an understatement. The vine bridges, the scarecrow village and gorges are pretty much all you'll hear about and for good reason. They're the main attraction and the reason people go. It's all about the nature and a handful of curiosities like the Yokai museum.
While not the tourist powerhouse of big cities like Kyoto, it does kind of live off of its "in the know" tourists. A new generation of younger entrepreneurs are trying to revitalize the area and transform it into something more in line with their modern sensibilities.
Travel is not easy and requires a lot of planning and preparation. Buses are extremely rare and trains as well. Bad weather can throw a wrench into your plans and mess up everything. Renting a car almost a must in order to visit the more far away spots, but a strong and experienced cyclists could probably do it - maybe. Those hills and mountains aren't always easy! And those trucks get a bit scary.
I stayed in Ikeda-cho, one of the bigger areas of Miyoshi city but still a bit of a one horse town.
But one thing is has going for it is that you can follow the Yoshino river for an 80km ride into Tokushima city. On a nice day, it's one of the best bike rides you could do.

One of the best Ryokan I've stayed at in Japan! Homely and traditional. The lady who runs the place is extremely helpful and an excellent cook. You'd usually pay three times as much for this kind of food. The location is excellent as a springboard to the wider Iya Vally. Book well in advance - this place is popular, and for good reason!
This is a traditional Japanese inn. It is modern with good facilities and a lovely inside and outside hot bath. It serves good traditional Japanese food. It is very close to the famous rope bridge but away from the tourist sites and is very peaceful. The staff were very helpful.
Such a relaxing place in rural Japan. Great host.
It is far from anything, so make sure you bring what you need. Fully equipped kitchen. Grill ourside. .
Slept like a baby.
super friendly staff, did. there best to accommodate non Japanese speakers;
onsen and room were really great and we had a nice view in the morning after arriving after sunset
I got experience living in a traditional Japanese home. The futon was better than what I had experienced before. Being semi rural provided space and relaxation.
