The staff were so welcoming Everytime we came back or left the hotel, breakfast was amazing too.

We travelled with 2 teens and they loved having their separate single rooms, but I panicked at size of the double room I shared with my husband. There was barely space to open one carry on. I ended up opening mine in the narrow hallway, where we had to step over it to get out. The bed was pushed up against the wall on one side.

Spotlessly clean. Breakfast was nice, the very spacious room had - I suppose - a Japanese design. A comfortable double bed, a low table and two very low stools, but no sofa, no chair, no desk.
Very spacious bathroom.
A Jacuzzi in the bathroom AND on the terrace!

The location is excellent, very close to the Kintetsu station, and the price is quite competitive. The room was quite clean and fully equipped. Moreover, the bed is very comfortable. There is also a large enough table and a fancy chair for temporarily working.

We spent two magnificent days in Nara. It has very interesting temples and shrines such as Todai-je, kasuga-taisha shrine, Toshodai-ji, Yakushi-ji. Nara Park is very nice with the cherry blossoms and adorable deer. Touring Mount Wakakusa is an unforgettable experience. I loved Nara!

I really enjoyed Nara.
I really enjoyed Nara. Its a manageable size and the centre is quite compact. But there's lots to see: shrines, gardens, small streets and arcades for shopping.
I loved exploring Nara Park, particularly at dusk when it's at its most atmospheric.
We visited Kyoto from Nara. If we had had more time I would have gone to some of the other temples nearby.

Staying overnight and visiting the temples early in the morning was the key to enjoying Nara. Even in low season there were an overwhelming amount of people everywhere later on in the day, but at 8am we had the Todai-Ji Buddha complex basically to ourselves.

Nara is always a nice city to visit, with its numerous temples. Beware of the multiple deers roaming around and looking for food! To them, tourists are nothing but self-moving, all-you-can-eat, free food dispensers. Anything sticking out of your body (purse, belt, map, a sweater tied around your waist, just anything) will be seen as food and... eaten, or drooled on (yuk!). The best part is of course the Todaiji with its Daibutsu, but other temples are nice as well. In summer don't miss the Light Festival, when most of the stone lamps are lit up and the large front window of the Todaiji is open letting yousee the face of the Daibutsu from outside.

Nara is a place known for its beauty, both historically and in the present world. It served as the capital of Japan in 1600, and I believe it is the most scenic destination today. I have traveled to 80 locations in Japan, and while I recognize that there are many beautiful places beyond Nara, the connectivity to Nara and its unique atmosphere give it the top position in my heart.

The best place we have stayed in Japan. The staff thought of everything, from kindly having our luggage ready in our room when we could check in (after leaving it there a few hours earlier), through to making booking the private Onsen so easy with a key ring system. The room had everything we needed and was absolutely spotless. Such a central location and the free massage chairs were a huge bonus. I can’t recommend Nara Ryokan more
Amazing traditional hotel in central Kyoto, close to shops, restaurants, and subway station that takes you all the way to Nara!
The staff was amazing and even left us a small gift for our honeymoon.
The facilities are really nice, everything you need is there and the rooms are spacious.
Probably slightly more expensive than other options, but you are guaranteed a great stay.
Simply love the location which is west side of Nara Station. This side is quieter as compared to east. The hotel is clean and comfortable with onsen facility which really have advantage edge. Moreover the room is generously for twin sharing. Also walking distance to the shopping street. The staff are helpful and professional.
The hotel itself is nice and everything very clean. Located just beside the JR Nara station, the location is convenient. We enjoyed our two night stay.
