The price because it was relativly cheap. But when we arrived and saw how it looked, we knew why. And parking which belongs to the hotel.

We were expecting a fine hotel experience for our trip to Nikko but experienced so much more at the Ritz Carlton. Elevated, serene, beautiful facilities and accommodations along with one superlative food experience, made for one of our favorite stays anywhere, ever. Both of our rooms were wonderful, but the suite was just wonderful. All of the food was very good during our stay, but our omakase experience - our favorite sushi ever and one of our favorite meals ever. (For what it's worth, I have never used 'ever' so often in a review) Consistently friendly, helpful staff as well. This is a unique and special place and I fully expect that we'll retreat here again on future trips to Tokyo.

The rooms were lovely and spacious and beautifully designed. We liked the community area in the lobby and the view out from there. The staff were extremely accommodating and obliging. They made a special effort to shuttle us exactly to where we needed to go and changed our room to one we preferred at the start.

I had a wonderful stay! The staff were very polite and helpful. The room was very nice with easy to use AC and heating that you could set to your preference. The walking distance to Chuzenji bus station is about 10-15 min. The breakfast was great, you could choose between a Japanese and western main set, with bread, cereal, rice and drinks from the buffet. The hotel dinner was well worth the price, it was a set menu, but different every evening (I stayed for 3 nights), and included some local specialties and popular Japanese dishes. It was also very generous, I could not finish everything, even if it was delicious! ^_^ Would definitely visit again!

This place is amazing -- luxurious yet comfortable. The staff was wonderful. Our room was perfect, as was the ensuite onsen bath, and the food was delicious. We loved our time at Fufu Nikko!

Lovely place with stunning shrines, beautiful nature and lots of mystic history. It was cold and the weather turned bad when I was there. The area with the best walking, higher up, was still closed due to snow

I invariably head for the mountains as there are great hiking trails and wonderful flora and fauna. Nikko provides a great base and of course has numerous cultural attractions, notably the tomb of the Tokugawa Ieyasu.

The place is perfect for nature lovers.
The place is perfect for nature lovers. We stayed around Chuzenji lake during late fall and it was still gorgeous. Supposedly planned to hike Mt. Nantai but we failed to check it was already off-season by the time we got there. Make sure to bring cash around as most do not accept cash. Also, only a few restos operate past 8pm so plan ahead. No konbini too, just one grocery store.

we booked for 2 nights - we arrived at noon. stayed the night and then did all the tourist things again the next day - get to the Toshogu Shrine and Shinkyo Bridge early!
We booked a car so it was much easier to get around than by bus. We were able to easily get to the falls and Chuzenji Lake.
Nothing is open at night - beware - get your dinner at lunch time and put it aside. There's always Lawson :)
As we had done everything on the second day, we would have preferred to make our way back to Tokyo early in the evening on our 2nd night stay but couldn't change the booking so the next day was a little wasted travelling back - Would have preferred to wake up in Tokyo and have a full day

Amazing National Park-- beautiful fall colors and waterfalls. Loved walking around the shrines, temples, gardens, and along the moss covered pathways with the stone statues. Easy train transportation to get there from Tokyo, and easy bus transport once there. We didn't feel like we needed to rent a car. I definitely would like to go back!

Nikko is a great trip to do from Tokyo.
Nikko is a great trip to do from Tokyo. We spent two nights and feel like that was a good amount of time. We were lucky to be there for the fall leaf season, however this did make it more crowded. We were happy we went up to the lake and took the bus around it to different waterfalls and onsens.

The hotel is something like a resort, with entertainment and public/private onsen options inside: perfect place to relax and rest a bit. Spaces are very well maintained and clean, staff is very nice. The dinner and breakfast are buffet, with a
variety of options also for vegetarians. Vegans may not find much to eat, though. If you go with public transport, there is a dial bus connecting to the train station, which however is not included in the Nikko pass.
It is an older hotel but still very popular among the Japanese. Buffet Breakfast was okay. Room was very clean and comfortable. Not too far from all the major sites. Private onsen room reservations available. Springtime in Nikko is great, it exceeded our expectations. You can easily spend the entire day visiting all the temples and shrines north of the Shinkyo bridge.
The hotel is pretty easy going with relaxed atmosphere. Our room was big and comfortable, but simple. It's a no frills place. Located next to a bus stop or around 40 min by walk to the city centre. It offers breakfasts and dinners for additional fee, which can come handy as there are not many restaurants in Nikko and it's difficult to get a spot without prebooking.
The room was small but it had everything. The bed was comfortable it had a little nuck by the door to hang your clothes. Front desk were very friendly. I was able to extend my stay when I arrived. I was given coupons to their newly open restaurant.
The hotel is close to the supermarket, Nikko station and other restaurants and shops.
The hotel is located right next to the Shinkyō, and you can reach Nikkō Tōshō-gū within walking distance. The key point is that the room is very spacious, comfortable and clean, and the service staff is also very friendly. I will definitely choose here again next time I go to Nikko.
