This was an amazing stay! We were there for 6 nights, and the attention to every little detail was incredible. Since we were working during the day, we spent most of our time at the library, and at some point, they made us feel like it was our workspace.
The breakfast service was outstanding—huge thanks to the gentleman with glasses! He was fantastic (sorry I didn’t get his name).
Noriko (I hope I’m spelling her name correctly) from the reception was also extremely helpful!🫶 Since Onomichi is a small town, many local shops require reservations in Japanese. She not only recommended great places but also helped us with reservations, which made our experience even better.
I’d say that staying at LOG was an experience in itself. ❤️

The room was very spacious and private, and the beds were very comfortable. The owner included lots of amenities and nice quality dishes and towels. He also provided nice bread, local marmalade and coffee for breakfast. Lived the area and was in walking distance of some good Okonomiyaki restaurants!

Stayed here twice now, and it is simply one of the best spots to break up the Shimanami Kaido experience.
Setoda is a cool, relaxing little town, and SOIL compliments this perfectly.
Only ever had 2 beds of 4 filled, but the "bunk" dorm feels like your own little comfy room. Great view, amazingly comfortable and best staff around!
Also the discount to the nearby onsen is worth it! Amazing spot as well.

Onomichi is not well known to tourists which is very nice. It didn’t feel overrun. Many lovely shops and beautiful sights to see.
The people were very nice. Could have spent more days there for sure and explored some of the little islands by ferry. The inland sea is very special.

Visited to do (some of) the Shiminami Kaido cycle route, which was fabulous. Wish I had stayed longer to ride further. Onomichi itself is a pleasant town, temple walk well worth doing (lots of steps), loved watching the comings and going along the quay/water.

Such a cute sleepy town!
Such a cute sleepy town! The best food I've eaten in Japan, was in Onomichi! We biked the Shimanami Kaido with our two year old so it was a pretty physically demanding adventure but Onomichi was our home base and I'm delighted by how much this small town had to offer tourists- especially the day after our mega bike ride when we were exhausted and not really keen on big plans. It was fun to stumble in and out of shoes and cafes and every one was very kind to our two year old who is still learning things like inside voices. Ha!

Quaint little town - lots of small, independent shops. Feels like you are stepping back in time. Everyone we met was very friendly. Perfect base for starting the Shimanino cycle ride across nearby islands. Good bike hire at docks.

My favourite place is the observation deck on the top of the mountain, which has a great view. You can take beautiful pictures of this city. For food, Onomichi Ramen is fatty for me, but there are other restaurants in city which have their own specialties. A city walk is recommended, since there are a lot of temples on the mountain, and you need to get there on foot, and explore their beauty. I will prepare a better shoes for the next trip and bring less item with me next time, because the tour on in the city requires a lot of physical strength.

This house is huge!! And has the best veiews in town, in the middle of a very quiet and green nieghbourhood. You can watch a perfect sunrise from the terrace! In our case, we just spent 1 night, which was too little. I reccommend this place for longer stays (for a short stay, the effort of going up and down the hill with luggage is too much). If traveling with luggage, definitely take the taxi to the nearby Onomichi View hotel and walk down from there. The host (I forgot his name) is very, very friendly!
I arrived in Onomichi & went to the cat temple as I paid via booking.com to stay at the Japanese Tea Ceremony hostel in Cat Alley. Check in was at 16.00 but by 17.00 nobody had turned up at the locked gate. When I went to use WiFi at the cafe in cat temple, staff told me that the tea ceremony hostel was known for scamming people so DO NOT BOOK that hostel.
Luckily the above hostel was available and I can highly recommend it and I loved Onomichi.
The location was good, with a nice sea view. The room was comfortable, although a little bit dated looking in places. The room was clean. The Japanese breakfast was really good. The staff were friendly and helpful in arranging the 'takuhaibin' luggage delivery service from this hotel to another location.
The idea is great, converting an old warehouse into a bicycle boutique hotel. Simple, minimalistic, but very japanese design, with nicely aging materials.
