A lovely place to rest our tired body and feet after a long day of walking. Although tucked away in the mountains, this place still deserves a mention for its excellent service provided, the half boarding we took, was also a good choice as the food served was so delicious and healthy. If you are looking for a short reprieve before heading off to your next place, do consider this. The staff, although don’t speak a lot of English, you can tell they try their very best to communicate with you, regardless. Thank you so much!

This a humble hotel in an isolated location. If you want to experience what the Japanese experience this is the place. It is older and everything works but it is definately dated. The food was excellent and we had the fixed menu dinner and breakfast for 2 days. We loved hanging about in a yukata and haori for the duration of our stay, and the easy access to the onsen overlooking the river. This is not a fancy place, but it is a genuine experience so suited us perfectly.

Cute little guest house run by a lovely family. Everything was so clean and comfortable. Rooms are Japanese style and the breakfast was sensational. Hosts were happy and helpful with information about Koyasan and other areas to travel to in Japan. Amazing place to stay!

Lovely workers notified us that most restaurants close by 5PM in Koyasan and we could make a booking for dinner here. The room is tidy and clean, warm blankets are provided and everything you need for your stay. Good location close to famous sights but about a 30min walk from Okunoin, easy to get to with local bus though. Showers are clean and warm. There is a communal area where we hoped to make our own breakfast but only cups are provided no bowls or spoons. Otherwise I recommend this place if all the temples are booked up!

Fantastic place. Really nice and cosy, Ryochi is super friendly and has created a great space. Perfectly placed next to the cemetery as well, which is the highlight of koyasan. Great dinner and breakfast too. Just a chill vibe.

Fantastic experience, must do while you’re in Japan. The journey to Koyasan is an experience as in itself too if you’re taking the train (google koyasan 2 day ticket from Osaka Namba).
Food was delicious. We enjoyed the activities too.
Highly recommended!

What an amazing experience to stay in an ancient monastery. We attended the fire ceremony, which was interesting. The chanting at the end was fun. The room was comfortable and clean. The onsen was refreshing. The food was absolutely incredible. It’s right next to the cemetery, perfect for a spooky night time walk. It’s a bit expensive to stay here for budget-minded travellers but it’s worth splashing out once in a while.
