Rooms were clean and just what you need! The owner was very friendly and the bar area was wonderful, we would have stayed there all night if we didn't need to get up early for the Kumano Kodo 😁

Excellent location, beautiful and comfort place. The host and his family are super kind. I was planning to leave very early the next moring and they answered my concerns and helped me with the planning. They also knew my hometown and discussed the food with me. On the next morning they prepared bento for me since I would miss the breakfast. Highly recommended!

The property was beautiful and rustic in the best way. The view at sunset of the mountains while sitting with the goats was a highlight. The dinner and breakfast were also a highlight that started off the first official day of my 18?day trip. The wagyu steak was incredible as well as the other dishes. I even got to see the rest of the goat farm before starting my hike on the Kumano Kodo. I will be back!

The guest house is surrounded by mountains and fields with plum trees blooming. The scenery is spectacular. The little house was cozy with all the things we needed. The owner was friendly and helpful. We had a chat in the breakfast time. The breakfast was delicious with coffee, miso soup, bagel and yogurt. It gave us enough energy for the hiking that we were going to do later. My family and I would like to visit Chikatsuyu and stay at the guesthouse again.

There are many ways to experience Japanese culture, but the house you provided for our accommodation felt like a time capsule, transporting us back to 1886. It was so authentic, and we were in awe of the beauty and craftsmanship of the builder. Thank you for your hospitality!

There was a quaint cafe/sweet shop within walking distance that we fell in love with. They served amazing coffee in hand made cups and had the most delightful assortment of sweets and lollies - even Halloween sweets

Staff was able to provide information clearly and was fluent in English. He was also very kind to pick us up from the train station for free. He also provided suggestions for sight seeing and restaurants. Highly recommend the accommodation due to the service and facilities.

Tanabe was our starting point for our Kumano Kodo trek so we stayed in Tanabe only one day not realizing how much there is to do in Tanabe. If we ever come to Tanabe again, we will be sure to stay longer to enjoy all that there is to do there. I think we could have stayed a whole week if we weren't going on our trek.

The food was amazing! We had an excellent breakfast before walking the Kumono Kodo trail and the lunch bento box was delicious as well.
Nice smell of incense on arrival. The dining room was very cool with alot of American memorabilia. I love the saloon doors that lead to the bathroom.
Really close to kii tanabe and Isakyas as well.
this is the best hotel that I have stayed in on my trip through Japan so far the owner is a very interesting and lovely person and you can just feel how passionate these people are about their hotel the food was amazing and I enjoyed the onsen and view from my room's window a lot
Lovely family guesthouse set in a beautiful mountain setting. Sam was an exceptional host, picking us up from the train station in Tanabe and then dropping us the following morning to the start of the Kumano Kodo in Takijiri. Couldn't ask foe more.
