The location and owners make this homestay special. The latter is at the foot of a historic and important Buddhist shrine and resting place of Kato Kiyomasa, builder of the Kumamoto Castle, while the former are generations-old family of soba makers. While breakfast didn't come with soba, it was one of the best I've eaten in Japan.
The space is comfortable, traditional and has everything you may need, including excellent views of the city.

For those wanting to experience a Japanese-structured house, this place is perfect. While the place was clearly renovated recently and well-maintained, there's a tatami room and more traditional features which were nice to experience. Everything was spotless, there were various amenities provided and it's pretty spacious in Japanese standards.
