Very close to Yudanaka station and convenient for taking JR or shuttle bus. A lawson nearby for basic grocery grabbing. Quiet room and well managed. The staff lady is very kind in handling my heavy luggage. Very appreciated ありがとうございます!

Super easy to find, a short walk from the station. There were free pastries and drinks available on arrival. Later on, there seemed to be free alcoholic drinks and snacks available in the dining room. It was help yourself with no staff in sight...unless I misunderstood something?!? The hotel and room had a great view of the town and surrounding mountains and was easy to reach from both the snow monkey park and Nagano. The room was very large and futon beds were comfortable. We also tried the onsen, which was great and completely empty! We tried to gave dinner there but were told we had to have reserved ahead of time. Not sure how we would have done that.
Neighbouring the Shigakogen Yakebitaiyama Ski Resort, Shigakogen Prince Hotels boast a 24-hour front desk, free Wi-Fi at public areas and ski equipment hire on site.

Highly recommend the buffet dinner - it comes with a main, which was sea bass and steak sirloin when we were there march 2025. Although a bit pricier than normal hotel buffets, it definitely exceeded our expectations. The ambience surrounding the full glass dining room was amazing which added to the whole experience. The staff were also very friendly and helpful at the dinner at Shiga Prince Hotel East.

The location was excellent for access to the ski runs and the ski hire shop. We also enjoyed views in three directions. However, it was isolated from restaurants and other retail outlets.

Outstanding property from top to bottom. Friendly and accommodating staff, beautiful rooms, fantastic food.
A real authentic Japanese Ryokan experience. The rooms have a private hot spring bath and there is the option to use the public baths as well. The private dining experience was first class food and service. The rooms are large and comfortable with everything you need to relax.

Breakfast was good. Best Hotel Route-Inn I stayed in. Like the complimentary coffee in the lobby, coin laundry and public bath.

I think I would have stayed a little longer (than 3 nights) to take advantage of the skiing and the onsen's (alternate between the two!), to relax for longer in the Japanese countryside. (I did not come to Japan to just check off the tourist sites...) The town has narrow streets to walk on, even without gps you cannot get lost as it is more or less parallel to the river, especially the more tourist section with all the onsens.
