Even though not all staffs spoke English and it was challenging when communicating via phone, yet, they were willing to serve us. The period we stayed there the temperature was 5-9c, the central heater was on for the whole hotel. However, after spending time in the onsen and came back to my room, I felt that the room was too warm. I called the reception and told them about the room temperature. The staff came over to the room to tell us the air conditioning and heater system is centralised hence it cannot be adjusted room by room. He left and came back with an electic tall fan. We were thankful. The facility and decoration are in 70-80's style yet it is in a great condition. The room is spacious and clean. Amentinites in the bathroom are variety and from good japanese brand - nice smell and texture. Despite the light snow, the staffs waited outside to wave guests invluding us goodbye and did the Japanese bowing. Super impressive and super Japanese. Breakfast - not that good. No need to buy breakfast.

Gero has so much to share, with food, including Hida beef, yes get familiar with it. It's top level Wagyu beef and is from Hida the region that Gero is situated. The city is easy to get around in the snow (in Winter) and in the rain (in Spring), with places that are easy to walk or ride share to. Gero to most is a journey to get to with taking the trains, but it's well worth the journey, having seen cherry blossoms in the ever greens AND the snow falling like in a "snow globe", encrusting the tress, during the train ride. We are fortunate to have experienced Gero twice and now looking for a third stay, in Autumn for the changing of the leaves!

Gero is a gorgeous town in the valley in Gifu. There is a much slower pace here, incredibly friendly people. and beautiful nature. There's many nooks and crannies where you'll find interesting things, and the Gassho-mura open-air museum village is a must-see area.

I did a one day trip, I went there just because of the naturals onsen, and it was the best decision, I arrived about 10:00 at leave at the same time of the next day. Honestly I don't think is a trip for more than 3 days.
Gero is a beautiful city, it has a few museums that can be seen in one period of the day. As the city is small, it doesn't need car or bus to go around if no one has fiscal disabilities.
This was my second time at Japan, and I regret not going to Gero the first time as well.

The staff were all very kind and helpful to welcome our big group of my family, 14 of us including 6 children. We all enjoyed the authentic ryokan experience. The meals were delicious. We will definitely go back!

Room was average.
Dinner and breakfast were Kaiseki style, served in our room by a male Japanese speaking staff who took the trouble to Google translate all the different dishes to English. He was very polite.
Driver who drove us to the train station on the day of check out was extremely accommodating n helpful.
The ladies' public onsen .. The Rose Bath was quite nice but with very few flowers. Different from the photo in the hotel website with lots of flowers.
1) dinner and breakfast were served in a private room with greenery view
2) room is very spacious with a small dressing room and balcony
3) every staff is very nice and attractive
4) they provide free taxi ride from /to the train station so you don’t need to worry about the traffic arrangements
5) the out door Onsen is good and I didn’t use their indoor one
6) the hotel very quite and peaceful
7) food of dinner and breakfast are of good quality
Excellent facilities. Had a lovely time here. Located just a short walk from the train station and even offers a shuttle if you would rather be driven over. Check in was straight forward and staff were all so helpful. Stayed in a traditional Japanese room and staff came in in the evening to make up the beds. The highlights are the multiple onsens available on site. Also given traditional yukata to wear throughout the hotel.
We’ve enjoy the atmosphere and hospitality! Onsen and public bath experience was definitely something new! The hotel’s atmosphere, simple restaurant that service meals after 20.00 and a bar with karaoke were also a nice cherry on top. And having beautiful local garments at the room to be able to wear those in the hotel was another lovely surprise
A great little ryokan in beautiful countryside. Very reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They have a private onsen that can be booked for 45 minutes blocks for extra payment. There are, of course, a lot of nearby onsen in Gero as well.
