The experience as a whole was great. Great accomodations, our tent is new and had all the things we needed.
The staff was very attentive.
Location is great, right at the gate of Amboseli Ntl Park, so you don't have to waste time moving for game drives.

We only had 2 nights to spend in Amboseli, but I could have stayed at this lovely accommodation for so much longer - I did not want to leave! It was so relaxing, the staff were super helpful and friendly, the owners were kind and helpful, the cottage was really sweet. The double bed (4 poster) was dreamy with views of Mt Kilimanjaro and the twin room was comfy and peaceful. The kitchen was really well-equipped, the oven and stove was fab (I did lots of cooking and baking) and the terrace with picnic bench and comfy day bed was heavenly... gazing over to Kilimanjaro, seeing the giraffe in the morning, feeling the expansive nature and wild remote magic all around us was simply enchanting. I am always the enthusiast, so asked if we could find local fresh milk and meat from neighbouring farmers and the owners immediately helped us out. We had delicious milk and lamb which could not have been more fresh and organic and tasty. We felt safe, welcome and enchanted. We went on two brilliant guided walks with John, who was always kind and friendly, pointing out details and helping us to find Ostrich, Giraffe, Wildebeest, Antelope and Masai herds of cows, goat, sheep as well as all the birds. We saw Elephant prints and heard a Cheetah was nearby but didn't see those animals... but we got up too late for elephant sightings so that was our own fault! The housekeeper Maureen did an excellent job, she was always available and became a friend within a few hours. The owners Jane and Ean were incredibly helpful and clearly care a lot about their guests, their property and the nature all around them. Jane was always in communication, very patient and made great recommendations. One example is the driver who brought us from Emali train station to Amboseli and back again, a legend called Luka. Jane suggested we go with him, and I would also highly recommend Luka as a driver.
Amboseli Sopa Lodge offers accommodation, a restaurant, a bar, a shared lounge and a garden. Both WiFi and private parking are accessible at the lodge free of charge.

Lovely place to stay when visiting Amboseli.
We stayed in a family room, which was comfortable and clean.
It is a half hour drive to the park though, so you should aware of this before you book, but we saw so many animals on the drive to the park, it wasn’t a problem.

Amboseli is one of my favourite parks, it is diverse, it has fantastic wildlife and simply amazing birdlife, you can wonder off onto the plains to stay in amongst the marshes watching the most fantastic sightings, it really is very lovely.
I was very pleasantly surprised, by other drivers on this trip, the were respectful of your line of sight, they never went off the road and were very polite, what a refreshing change.
Then the staff on the gates were really very helpful, they were fun and guided us well, we came in at Meshanani and out at Kimana both were really good experiences. The loos at both gates were also very clean, a bit plus in my book

The variety of animals was great.
The variety of animals was great. The elephants were amazing--the highlight of the trip. Elephants is what you go to Amboseli to see, really! Due to the size of the park, the restriction against off-roading, and the poor conditions of some roads after the rains, visitors should go into the trip with the expectation to see big cats--finding them is really a matter of luck. But the other animals make up for this.

Coming from Maasai Mara, game drives were not as intense and rich, mainly due to different rules. For example off-roading isn't allowed, so if you see a lion further away, that will be the only way to enjoy it, because you can't approach it. Overall it is also less lush and green than Mara, but it is unique in it's own way. What makes it beautiful is the view of Kilimanjaro, swamps full of birds and bathing elephants. Dust-friendly clothes and a scarf to cover the face are highly recommended as it was extremely dusty at times.

Amboseli is the perfect place to see lots of elephants!
Amboseli is the perfect place to see lots of elephants! There’s a marsh / swamp in the park and many elephant herds are taking baths and enjoying the water. Elephants are roaming around freely too so will see them often. There are hippos in the marsh / swamp too. Besides elephants, I saw giraffes, impalas, zebras, wildebeest and Cape Buffalo. Lions are in the park too, but wasn’t able to see them during my visit. The sky and sun through the clouds is absolutely stunning too!

The resort is a fantastic place to start a safari.
The resort is a fantastic place to start a safari. It is about half a kilometer from the entrance to the National Park. Nature is breathtaking. There is even a viewpoint where you can see the wider area. The wild animals have the opportunity to come into the resort and especially at night the animals walk around your tent. Don't worry, they're more scared of you. The road to the resort, you have to take that into account. This was still a dirt road for us. We did the transfer with a normal car. A 4x4 drive would have been better. This road (C103) is being paved with asphalt.
The WiFi is poor. They should foresee that this can be reached all over the resort.
The food was ok. I just missed some slices of cheese and some jam at breakfast.
A stay of 3 to 4 days is certainly sufficient here. We did a day safari. This means: we left at 06h00 am (the resort provides a breakfast box with coffee) until 01h00pm. Then we came back to the resort for lunch. And at 03h00pm we left again until 06h00pm, with the apotheosis... we saw Simba, the king of all animals... the lion.
Don't forget to visit the local Masaai village. You will receive an explanation of how the Maasai live and you can take a look at one of their huts.
