Wasini – 3 hotels and places to stay

Boasting a private beach area and garden, as well as a restaurant, Wasini Raha Snorkeling and Diving is situated in Wasini. With lake views, this accommodation features a patio.

The hotel is simple but nice for relaxing after an ocean safari. The room was clean (no insects). There is an outdoor terrace. The staff was nice and warm. The water pressure in the shower was low, but that’s normal for Africa. In addition, there is no water on the island, they use rainwater and bring water from the mainland for drinking. The food was delicious – fish, crab, prawns, etc. The hotel is not on the ocean, the hotel is on the second line. We went to the hotel because we wanted an ocean safari. The hotel manager Ally organized a very nice full day ocean safari – coconut crab island, dolphin tour, coral gardens and also a small island tour. Ally also organized a transfer – by tuk-tuk from the highway to Shimoni port and then by boat from Shimoni to Wasini Island. I recommend it if you want an ocean vacation.

Blue Monkey Beach Cottages is a recently renovated guest house in Wasini, where guests can makes the most of its pool with a view, private beach area and garden.

A little bit of unspoilt tropical heaven! No mains water hook up to the mainland, meaning no running water, but the bucket shower was fun and fine, in the little private bathroom. Very happy here - would recommend.

Located in Shimoni, 39 km from Kaya Kinondo Sacred Forest, Mwazaro Beach Lodge provides accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a private beach area.

We had a delightful stay at the lodge. The property is located in a secluded area, right by the sea, creating a serene and relaxing atmosphere. The rooms were spacious, nicely decorated, and exceptionally comfortable. Everything was impeccably clean. You can watch the sunrise from your room and end the day enjoying the sunset from the rooftop bar. The food and service at the restaurant were very good. You can do a variety of day trips, visit the local community and have onsite kitesurfing lessons. The staff is exceptionally friendly, always smiling, and genuinely eager to assist with any requests. Their hospitality and attention to detail are outstanding. The sand at the beach is a bit muddy but this is what allows the Mangrove trees to thrive, creating a unique landscape. We highly recommend staying at Mwazaro.

Nestled among coral reefs and tropical gardens, Shimoni offers charming accommodation in cottage suites with thatched roofs.

Amazing place! We even got a room upgrade: we booked the cottage and we were offered to go to Hemingways suite which was absolutely fantastic, with a private pool on the rooftop. The pools, both the private and the shared ones, were clean and nice. The staff is very kind and always available: they can recommend good and convenient options for visiting the marine national park. The lodge is on a beach with mangroves: don't expect to chill on the white sand of Diani, it's completely a different environment, with mangrove ecosystems and lot of conservation efforts. The food was also good. We ate abundantly at dinner and breakfast, and the staff was available to satisfy our requests and exigencies. The restaurant on the terrace, with sofa, and lot of books, makes it a perfect place to chill and relax. You can reach the KWS office (to take the boat for the marine park with a 15-minutes walk through Shimoni Village, which is small but super characteristic. We highly suggest to visit it for a very local experience. The Shimoni Slaves Caves are less than 10 minutes walking. Strongly recommended and thanks a lot for such nice hospitality.

Situated in Msambweni, a few steps from Msambweni Beach, YU Resort features accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a private beach area.

I had a truly amazing experience at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm, professional, and incredibly attentive. The room was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The breakfast buffet was delicious with a great variety of options. One of the highlights of my trip was the special excursion to Shale Island – it was breathtaking and perfectly organized by the hotel. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for luxury, comfort, and exceptional service.

Providing sea views, Mango Lodge Kenya in Kisimachande provides accommodation, a garden, a terrace and a restaurant. The lodge features both WiFi and private parking free of charge.

The property has a lot of potential with a beautiful garden and flora. The view of the ocean is also beautiful. Peaceful and quiet. The staff, especially Rama, try hard to accommodate guests and the dinners were very good. The mango juice was lovely. The wild monkeys were fun to watch jumping around in the mango trees. 5 minute walk to the beach, which is unfortunately quite dirty with trash everywhere.

The island was great. People very friendly.

The island was great. People very friendly. The only negative part was when I went for a walk on the island, one woman asked me what I was doing there. When I replied just looking, she told me to look cost money and I should come to the office to pay, which was total BS!
