Beautiful location! Highly recomend. Staff are amazing, food is excellent. Pool overlooks the mountains -absolutely magic. Also GREAT for young kids - has a [lay area with a sandpit and lots of toys - loved it!

Offering a restaurant, Hotel Onrock is located just 400 metres from the Ella Railway Station. Free WiFi access is available. Each room here will provide you with a work desk and flat-screen TV.

The staff were very friendly which we have found is the case across Sri Lanka. It is in an excellent location close to Ella Main Street. Just be aware it’s up a steep hill so those with mobility issues will either need Tuk Tuks or to find alternative accommodation. We highly recommend going to Golden Temple restaurant at the bottom of the road for dinner (by far our best culinary experience of the trip). However, this hotel did not exceed our expectations. It was booked last minute but please be aware there is a lot of construction work occurring that is very noisy and also means there aren’t as many facilities as in other hotels (at the moment). The hairdryer needed an adapter which reception are happy to supply for you and the TV did not work and was not fixed when asked. The shower door was a sliding door but there’s a gap so if you aren’t careful, water spills out onto the floor making it slippery. The breakfast was a buffet and was okay, nothing special. This was our most expensive stay in Sri Lanka and was not worth the money. Once all of the building work has been completed and we believe there is a pool being made, it will be more worth the money.

Lovely guest house away from the noise of the Main Street. Spacious room and lovely breakfast served on patio of our room. Hotel sorted laundry for us too. Only negative was that the wet room style bathroom wasn’t great at draining away.

Our stay at 98 Acres Resort & Spa was truly unforgettable. The views from the room were breathtaking, surrounded by lush greenery and mountains. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, always making sure we were comfortable. The room was clean, spacious, and beautifully designed with eco-friendly elements. We also enjoyed a delicious dinner with a stunning view of the sunset. Highly recommend the spa as well – such a peaceful experience!

A charming boutique hotel about 15 minutes from Ella. The main bungalow is great, very atmospheric and the gardens are beautifully maintained. Expect to see lots of wildlife, including monkeys! Nice big pool. The kids loved the badminton court. We had a family room, which is two bedrooms with a lounge area in the main bungalow. Perfect for our family of 5. Excellent, big breakfast. The service was outstanding.

    Great stay close to the center with cafes and bars and walkable distance to the bridge and Little Adam’s peak. The room was clean with a big terrace opening towards the town and mountains. The bathroom doesn’t have a window so it gets a bit humid and smelly but it wasn’t too bad.

    In last one week, I spent time at several cities of Sri Lanka and found that Sri Lanka has a good Pick me service (like UBER/GRAB, etc.) except in Ella. I tried this service at Ella but never found any Tuk Tuk or taxi at Ella using this service. If you are good at walking, or smart enough to use the local bus service, thats a different issue, else Ella transport system (private tuktuk, taxi, car or microbus) is very expensive.

    Ella is an absolutely bustling small town with lots going on and lots to see. You would need at a minimum 2 days to try get around to all the key sightseeing POI's. Good vibe in the town and lots of backpackers and great food/drink outlets

    The weather is cooling.

    The weather is cooling. The railway station is situated less than 5 mins away from the busy street in town. I rented a scooter to explores literally all the places of interest I wanted to go, including the tea plantations.

    Ella is a small town with many bars, restaurants and nice...

    Ella is a small town with many bars, restaurants and nice craft shops. The surrounding area is beautiful with spectacular scenery. We visited two waterfalls which were amazing. One of them we walked right to the top of the falls with a guide who was very knowledgeable about the area and the plants we saw. The nine bridges is worth a visit to see the train coming over. We also walked up little Adams Peak which is worth a visit too.

    From all the places we have been to in Sri Lanka, Ella is...

    From all the places we have been to in Sri Lanka, Ella is the most expensive one. Tuk drivers wants to abuse from their service all the time. Whereas in other cities like Kandy or Nuwara Eliya you would pay 300 LKR, here they want to charge you 1500 LKR for the same distance. Transportation to other cities is also more expensive from here.. I stayed 1 night and was good enough to see the main attractions and move forward to a more authentic place in the country.

    I stayed 3 nights - depending what you like to do it was sufficient. One early morning tour to Little Adams Peak to see the sun rise ( very beautiful). Then the Mahameuna. temple - beautiful temple with magnificent . They offer meditation on top of the hill with a monk (around 3:30 pm ..) Chanting starts at about 6:pm . Cooking class with spice tour at spice garden in ella was absolutely great ! Ella itself is westernized lots of restaurants and bars . Beautiful area

    I recently stayed at a wonderful hotel in Ella, Sri Lanka, and had an amazing experience. The rooms were spacious, clean, and very comfortable, offering beautiful views of the surrounding nature. The highlight of my stay was the host, Dulshan, who was incredibly welcoming and helpful. He went above and beyond to arrange everything I needed, from transportation to local tours and recommendations for the best spots in town. If you’re looking for a great place to stay with top-notch hospitality, I highly recommend this hotel!

    We felt very comfortable during our stay and the team was very accommodating. The food was so tasty and catered to our wishes. The location was perfect for us, a little outside the centre, but you can walk to Ella in 25 minutes on the train tracks or order a Tuktuk. The Kithalella train stop is ideal, from there it is only 200 metres to the hotel. We would definitely recommend the hotel, it really enriched our stay in Ella.

    We spent only one night in this beautiful hotel, located in a top of a mountain and 200m from the city centre, kavish and his team assisted us with everything what we wanted, they kept the kitchen open for bit late so that we could order food after we arrived late at night. Food was so delicious, and the breakfast too They helped us to book tuk tuk to get down to ella Town. This place deserves five stars for everything

    I have stayed at dozens of hotels in Sri Lanka. This was on the top of the list of best stays/experiences ever. Gorgeous view from my bed. Walking distance to Ella city. The manager and the staff were very hospitable and there for every need of mine. Thank you so much. I will visit again.

    Family stay, at a little distance of the center of Ella. In the middle of the jungle, with many bugs. Very simple, don't expect luxury. The owners are very kind and they offer excellent meals. The best dhal I ever got and the same for the curd with treacle.
