The staff here were excellent. They were very helpful, friendly, and attentive. We stayed in a Villa which was cleaned every day. The breakfasts were good. We only ate in the Restaurant twice in the evening but it was very good. We loved the wildlife, the Kingfishers, Peacocks, Lapwings, Cows and the dogs. The gardens were very well tended and the pool provided welcome relief from the heat. I had a lovely massage.

I stayed at City Stay for the second time this February, and I’m really pleased with the improvements they’ve made since my visit last March. The dampness and fungus near the bed are completely gone, and the walls have been freshly painted, making the room feel much brighter and cleaner. They also fixed the bathroom sink, so no more unexpected splashes! The only issue that remained from my last stay was the weak Wi-Fi signal, which could still use improvement. But aside from that, everything was much better this time. The staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and always ready to help, which made my stay even more enjoyable. I’d definitely recommend City Stay, and I’ll be coming back again!

An interesting little town full of things to see and do.
An interesting little town full of things to see and do. Good boutiques, restaurants and bars. From our balcony, we watched monkeys scampering over the rooftops while a 2 meter Monitor Lizard walked down the street, while listening to jazz from the piano bar next door.

Galle, located on the southwestern coast of Sri Lanka, is a city that offers a captivating blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. It's known for its well-preserved Dutch colonial architecture, with the most iconic being the Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The fort area is charming, filled with narrow streets, ancient churches, and boutique shops. The views from the fort walls, overlooking the ocean, are breathtaking.
Aside from the fort, Galle also offers scenic beaches, such as Unawatuna, which is just a short drive away, making it a great spot for both historical exploration and relaxing by the sea. The town has a laid-back atmosphere, but with enough attractions to keep visitors engaged, from local markets to temples and museums.
The cuisine in Galle is also noteworthy, with a variety of fresh seafood and Sri Lankan specialties like hoppers and curries. There’s a rich cultural mix due to the city’s colonial past, with influences from the Portuguese, Dutch, and British periods.
The warm, welcoming locals add to the charm of Galle, creating a relaxed and friendly vibe throughout the town. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, nature lover, or simply seeking a peaceful retreat, Galle has a little something for everyone.
In summary, Galle is a perfect destination for those looking to explore Sri Lanka’s heritage while enjoying stunning coastal views. It's a great spot for both short getaways and extended stays.

Galle is an old fortress town on the coast.
Galle is an old fortress town on the coast. The historical architecture is well preserved - you can walk all the way around the town on the walls. Many of the old buildings in the town still exist and are in use. You can also sit on the fortress wall and watch the cricket. So overall great atmosphere. Galle is also close to several nature destinations.

The Galle fort area has good choice of shops and restaurants and there are many kinds of foods available like pizza and burgers. We enjoyed eating more salads and stir fries dishes. There are a number of beaches you can visit along the coastline - some are recommended for surfing, others for swimming etc.
It is easy to get around . There are many tuk tuk available to explore the region and surrounding coastline.

Perfect for relaxing.
The view from the hotel was amazing. We had the suite, and it was the right choice. Exceptional with the pool and the view. Nature all around you. You can see monkeys in the morning and evening. (Being your binoculars)
The staff was super friendly and helpful whenever needed.
The sri lankan breakfast was very yummy.
Even though remotely in the nature if you want to go to galle it is still only 20 min by TukTuk or 5 min to the beach.
Lovely little hotel with a perfect location in Galle Fort. We booked for one night without planning on sleeping here, instead storing our bags and using the room to rest/freshen up ahead of a late evening transfer up to Colombo for our flight home. The wonderful owner made this a memorable last stop in Sri Lanka with warm hospitality and great recommendations. We would highly recommend staying here!
Our time at the Sun House was a great experience. We stayed in the Dumas Suite, which was very comfortable and quiet. The staff are very attentive and friendly and try very hard to look after guests. The location is perfect, in a peaceful location surrounded by nature but close to the sites in Galle Fort. We had a lovely time at the hotel and will definitely stay again when we return to Sri Lanka.
Great stay at Windy Garden.
Spacious, very clean room, modern bathroom, and a great balcony overlooking the lovely pool.
Breakfast was good, a choice between continental and Sri Lankan.
One evening, sitting on the balcony, we had a sunset watching monkeys in the trees behind the hotel, which was special.
Only a short ride 5-10 minutes)to Galle in a tuk tuk.
Staff were very good, happy and polite.
Great location and closer to everything around Galle fort. We got a free upgrade to an upstairs room with a balcony and we really loved our stay. Room was fully equipped with everything we needed and the hotel looked amazing with all Sri Lankan interior designing. Friendly staff and great breakfast.
